I don’t remember how I happened onto Pearl’s blog entitled Be Thus Minded. It is a very good thing that I did. She posts some outstanding Christian messages that have been delivered by God’s men.
I have been to Be Thus Minded more than a few times lately. I hear a good sermon on Sunday, but I need more.
One of the messages that Pearl has highlighted is Any Old Bush Will Do by Major Ian Thomas. You may hear his message by clicking here.
By clicking here, you will open up a series of The Major’s messages. Look down the list a bit and click on Any Old Bush Will Do.
Here’s a brief excerpt:
“This is the message of the Bible:
That God has chosen the weak, and the base, and the nothing, and the things that are not, to confound the things that are. And all God demands of a man is his availability; to be what man was created to be – the human vehicle of the divine life inhabited by God for God.”
I hope you have the time to be encouraged as I was by listening to this message.

Thank you for posting this Chris! This is one of my favorite messages. Major Thomas edifies the Body with his messages that are both joyful, encouraging and humbling.
Listening to this just got bumped up in my priorities of things to do today. I am glad that you brought up Zola Levitt on your other post too. I love his knowledge and encouragement as well. I am adding him to my list of “must hears” for this weekend.
I need to be edified before I tackle the chore of helping my son finish up his science project this weekend! I need to be completely filled with the fruits of His Spirit before this challenge! LOL
Have a great weekend Brother!
Peace and Grace to you and your household in the name of the King of Kings, Christ Jesus! Amen.
You’re welcome, Kari.
And thank you, too. Maybe your comment will encourage someone else to listen to this message.
I’m glad that my mention of Zola reminded you of a great teacher who is so often overlooked. The series on cassette that I have from 1985 (my mom gave it to me) is excellent. I will see if I can find the same series somewhere on sermon.audio or elsewhere so that I can share it with others. I have been listening to one of the cassettes over and over.
I know about those science projects. I’ve taught science at different times to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Permit me to make one suggestion: Creativity is the key. It sounds like you already have the subject. Now have fun with it.
Thank you for your wonderful ending.
My our Lord bless you and yours as well…
I just now discovered this, Chris, due to Kari leaving a comment at my place about an hour ago. I’m beyond touched. Once a person “gets” the full gospel so adequately communicated by the likes of Maj. Thomas and Alan Redpath, etc, and actually believes it and walks therein (Christ Himself), there’s no need for blogs like mine. Any old bush will do!
Hugs to you both.
Hi Pearl,
Once a person gets the gospel there is no need for our blogs.
The problem: Not everyone gets it. Thus, we must continue the attempt to communicate God’s love. I will continue and hope that you will, too.
God’s blessings…
I absolutely LOVE Any Ol’ Bush Will Do!!! That is one of my all time favorites from Pearl’s Blog. I stole it and put it on mine too. Pearl’s the one who introduced me to this pastor. He’s really a blessing to listen to.
Hi Dawnmarie.
I’m so glad you stopped by. I shared with Pearl that some of the information in the message is included in the anger management course where I work. The course is centered around the life of Moses. I’m not surprised that you liked it, too.
By the way, I saw the “Pilgrim’s Progress” post on your blog and I will have to check that out soon. I just love that story.
God’s blessings…
