Bless, barach-Strong’s #1288. To speak a blessing, to salute, congratulate, thank, praise; to kneel down. Barach is the root word from which baruch (“blessed one”) and barachah (“blessing”) are derived.
A big hint here is the word Berech, “Knee,” is said to be the source of these words. Throughout the O.T. one got down on his knees to receive words of blessing, whether to God in heaven or to the king on his throne. From God’s perspective He is the Blesser, the One who gives the ability to live a rich, full, and abundant life.
