The riches of His free grace cause me daily to triumph over all the temptations of the wicked one, who is very vigilant, and seeks all occasions to disturb me.

he-the devil- is so vigilant. Praise to God for triumph over him. Thanks Chris
He is, indeed. Praise God for protection and for the eternal triumph that you mention. Thank you so much for your comment!
Thanks for the inspiring Whitefield quote, Chris. One of these days I’d like to read a biography of Whitefield.
You’re welcome, Tom, and thank you for your comment. I’d like to read a Whitefield biography as well. Just reading what wiki has on him makes him seem to have been a very interesting person.
Barbour Publishing used to publish a book series titled “Heroes of the Faith.” George Whitefield was one of the titles (very well written and interesting book). There were over 40 different titles, including John Bunyan, John Calvin, William Carey, Amy Carmichael, George Washington Carver, Fanny Crosby, and many others. I was able to find 7 of them.
They discontinued that wonderful series a number of years ago. You might find a few in used book stores, if any still exist.
I’m in the Philippines, and the only used book store I know of went out of business a few years ago.
I wonder, maybe they can be found online? I am going to look.
Thank you for your comment, eldermike. There is a similar series by Janet and Geoff Benge that we bought for my son when he was young.
I think I found the book on John Newton from the series you are referring to. Try this link:
If you click on “buy” you will be taken to where the book is on Amazon Books. You don’t have to buy the book.
It is by Barbour Publishing so it might be the series to which you refer.
Again, thanks for stopping by!
It is such an encouragement to know about those who have gone before us.
I don’t think it’s from the same series, however, it looks like its been updated. I read a bit, and it’s probably just as good as the series of books I have.
Nice. Maybe it’s a reprint or just edited and rereleased. You probably have an older version as there aren’t 40 in this particular series.
Love George Whitfield
Yes, as far as I can tell he was quite controversial but a true servant of God. The two go together quite often.
Yes!
