MARKETING THE OCCULT

I recently stumbled on THIS ARTICLE and found it very interesting.  The article took me to ANOTHER ARTICLE  that I found equally educational.  Here is one quote from the latter:

“…we see new forms of ‘Christianity’ rising all around us  — flexible, evolving models  shaped to fit both the global quest for connectedness and the personal quest for  ‘feel-good’ experiences.  Naturally, the same process is also squeezing witchcraft, Buddhism, moderate (not militant) Islam, and even Satanism into its universal mold.”

When I joined a church a few years ago, I was asked about my favorite Bible verse.  It changes from time to time.  As a youth it was Matt. 6:33.  The pastor read my verse to the church:

“…we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-12

I was going through a very trying ordeal at the time and felt that much of it had to do with the powers to which this verse refers.  I can still remember the reaction to the verse as it was read.  Maybe it was what I was going through, but I got a sense of “That’s his favorite verse?”

Thankfully, I don’t feel the principalities I thought I was sensing then.  However, I believe the world is becoming a darker place every day.

And thankfully, I have read the last three chapters in the Bible.

GOD OF WONDERS

“I’m so excited to find God of Wonders at YouTube! Just in case there are some of you who have not yet seen this great video (or have but would like a fresh reminder), make yourself a cool lemonade (or a hot cup of tea for those of you Down Under) and behold the precise, intricate, altogether lovely works of our powerful, awesome, magnificent Holy God, Creator and Redeemer, Jesus Christ our Lord!”

These are the words of Pearl of the former blog “Be Thus Minded.” Pearl went on to quote Psalm 19 in its entirety. Unfortunately, this documentary was removed when Pearl had her blog up. Fortunately, I found it back up on You Tube.

Pearl and I have very similar tastes. Three posts before she finished her blog she added “Who Am I,” an inspiring piece of music that was recently posted here.

I am thankful that I still have access to “Be Thus Minded” where I can find great stuff like God of Wonders.

THE GLORY OF GOD

Psalm 19

The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
2 Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
4 Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.
In them He has placed a tent for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;
It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
6 Its rising is from one end of the heavens,
And its circuit to the other end of them;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

How anyone can look at this picture and say that our world happened by chance is beyond me.  Those who believe that an ungodly “Big Bang” occurred think I’m brainwashed.  Well, I think there was a Godly “Big Bang;”  God spoke and “Bang,” our universe was here.  Those who believe otherwise are the ones who are brainwashed.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY ISRAEL!!!

This evening the celebration of Yom Ha’atzmaut commences. The observation of the establishment of the modern state of Israel on May 14th, 1948 begins on the eve of April 15th (it is probably being remembered as I write this) and ends tomorrow night (the 16th).

What do people do on this holiday? You can read about some of the things they do here.

I would like to wish all of my Jewish friends a happy holiday. What happened in May of 1948 was a miracle. I know it is difficult for Israel to rejoice too much this year with enemies who wish to see their destruction surrounding them. As God has done in the past, He will protect the tiny little nation in the future.

Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

THE NEXT BIG LIE

Of course the greatest danger of the ‘Morning After Pill’ is that it is designed to kill a child, whether son or daughter.”

This quote may be seen here.

Many of you are aware that one judge made one ruling that may lead to the plan b pill being sold over the counter.  It is a tragic sign of the times in which we live.

It’s Rated R For A Reason

Rated RLast week when we were discussing spring break plans, Amelia said she wanted to see the new Selena Gomez movie.  When I pointed out that it was rated R, she said that wasn’t a problem: “My mom will take me.”

I looked up the movie on IMDB.com and read the Parent Guide notes aloud.  After hearing several descriptions of drug use, nudity, and sexual situations, Amelia looked alarmed.  “I didn’t know all that was in there,” she said.  “I just thought the previews looked funny!”

The MPAA ratings may have their flaws, but they do serve a purpose, when parents heed them.   Had Amelia’s mom taken her to see the film without doing some checking first, it could’ve been uncomfortable and awkward for everyone.  There are several sites besides IMDB; Kids-in-Mind and Common Sense Media provide good info for parents (you can click on either name to access the…

HE HAS RISEN

THE SHROUD

I have always been fascinated by the Shroud of Turin. Is it a picture of our crucified Lord? Many think so. There is so much evidence that it is hard to view it otherwise. Here is a video about the blood on the Shroud. It would take a master forger to fake that.

I also think the Shroud is genuine. Though some would disagree, the facts seem to verify the veracity of the image. Whether it is the real thing or not, it should cause many to pause and wonder: “Is this the face of the Savior of mankind?”
