ISRAEL IS NOT ALONE

September 3, 2012

In a recent article in Brietbart, John Bolton, former ambassador for the U.S. to the U.N. said that Israel is now alone.  He was, of course, talking in worldly terms.  You can read the article here.

I believe that Mr. Bolton is correct.  The current man in the White House will not support Israel and the tiny country’s options are diminishing.

There is something very important that must be taken into consideration when it comes to Israel’s safety.  God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  It is a covenant of promise about the land that Israel now possesses part of.  It doesn’t matter how many powerful weapons any nation brings to the table when God is in the mix.

Israel is not alone.  It will not be defeated.  This is not my opinion.  This is what I believe the Bible clearly teaches.

What do you think?

ISRAEL WILL SURVIVE

July 21, 2012

I rarely add to the words of Mr. Spurgeon.  Usually, I can add nothing more.  However, I live in a different time. Israel became a nation long after Mr. Spurgeon passed.  And I have studied the Assyrians and their king, Sennacherib.  You see, I did a report in college on the Old Testament book of Nahum.  Most of you know the story of Jonah and how he eventually got around to telling the Assyrians to repent.   AND THEY ACTUALLY REPENTED.  Sadly, Nahum came a bit later and recorded 4 major prophecies that had to do with the destruction of the Assyrian Empire.

So what does this have to do with the following piece by Mr. Spurgeon?  Israel was in trouble when Isaiah wrote the following verse inspired by God’s Holy Spirit.  Israel is in trouble today.  What did Israel do then?  Eventually, they trusted that God would save them.  What will happen to today’s Israel.  Read your Bible.  God will save them.  They will not be exterminated like so many wish.

A popular, current Christian best seller calls the Assyrians the “first terrorists.”  I don’t know if this is true, but I know that their armies were terrorists.  I can’t relate the details here as I’m eating my breakfast.

What does Mr. Spurgeon do with the words of Isaiah?  He does what he always does.  He attempts to relate it to our personal lives and our relationship with God.  I think he does an admirable work here.

Those who have read much of the Bible at all know that there are layers.  It is why we can read the same verse many times and get something new.  The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the Bible.  What a wonderful privilege it is to have God’s Word in my hands.

“The daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.” Isa 37:22

Reassured by the Word of the Lord, the poor trembling citizens of Zion grew bold, and shook their heads at Sennacherib’s boastful threats. Strong faith enables the servants of God to look with calm contempt upon their most haughty foes. We know that our enemies are attempting impossibilities. They seek to destroy the eternal life, which cannot die while Jesus lives; to overthrow the citadel, against which the gates of hell shall not prevail. They kick against the pricks to their own wounding, and rush upon the bosses of Jehovah’s buckler to their own hurt.

We know their weakness. What are they but men? And what is man but a worm? They roar and swell like waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame. When the Lord ariseth, they shall fly as chaff before the wind, and be consumed as crackling thorns. Their utter powerlessness to do damage to the cause of God and his truth, may make the weakest soldiers in Zion’s ranks laugh them to scorn.

Above all, we know that the Most High is with us, and when he dresses himself in arms, where are his enemies? If he cometh forth from his place, the potsherds of the earth will not long contend with their Maker. His rod of iron shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel, and their very remembrance shall perish from the earth. Away, then, all fears, the kingdom is safe in the King’s hands. Let us shout for joy, for the Lord reigneth, and his foes shall be as straw for the dunghill.

“As true as God’s own word is true;

Nor earth, nor hell, with all their crew,

Against us shall prevail.

A jest, and byword, are they grown;

God is with us, we are his own,

Our victory cannot fail.”

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92)

WOWWIE-KAZOWIE!!!

July 6, 2012

Who doesn’t know that Moses was great?  I’m sure there are some in far off lands where the name Moses means nothing.  Those places are becoming rare because of the work of Christian missionaries throughout the centuries.

I stumbled on something the other day that lifted Moses to a new level in my mind.  You may have heard of this, but I don’t recall it.  I’m sure I’ve read it; it just never caught my eye.

This time my reaction was “Wowwie-kazowie!!!

Moses made 7 trips to the top of Mount Sinai.

Most of us know of two.

Well, he made seven.  They are noted in the Klassen Study Bible.

It was Moses 6th trip that intrigued me.  One can find the story in Exodus 32:32.

Almost all people who have gone to a Christian church have heard the story of the Golden calf.  However, it is 2012 and maybe this is, sadly, not the case.  If you haven’t read it, you can start at Exodus 32:15 where Moses went down from his fifth trip on Sinai carrying the two tables (10 commandments).

Most know that Moses had to go back up the mountain (6th trip).  You really should read the story if you haven’t to find out why.  You can start at Exodus 32:1 or even at 31:1.

Anyway, In Exodus 32:31, Moses has gone back up Mt. Sinai once more.  He says to God, “Oh this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.”

And then Moses does an outstanding thing.

I will use His words:

“Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.” (Exodus 32:32)

Is Moses offering up his salvation if God will forgive the people’s sins?  It is not clear.  It is clear that Moses is so concerned about the people that, if God won’t forgive their sins, he asks to be blotted out of God’s book.

Haven’t heard about God’s book?  Well, Moses knew about it.

Not only is it mentioned in the Old Testament (here and in Malachi 3:16), it is mentioned in the New Testament:

“And there in shall in no wise enter into it (the gates of the holy city in heaven) any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Rev. 21:27)

Anyway, Moses impresses me more than ever.  He offers up his salvation for the people of Israel.  Offering up one’s life is an amazing thing…but one’s salvation?

I think it is excellent.  “Excellent” doesn’t really define it.  But there it is, the highest thing one could offer is placed on the table.

God says to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”  (Exodus 32:33)

That would make heaven empty except for God.

But Moses knew the promise of God – that a Savior would come, and save those who believed in Him.

Moses was one of the greatest, but he can’t save us.

Only faith that Jesus paid the price for our sins can save us.

It’s like the old song says: “What can wash away our sins?  Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”

God’s love is an unconditional love that I will not understand this side of heaven.

But, I understand it enough.

It is amazing.  Amazing is another word that is inadequate in this case, but it is the best I can think of.

THE BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON AND THUTMOSE III

June 23, 2012

This post started when I lost my Bible.  I still haven’t found it and everyone has looked for it.

What does the loss of a Bible have to do with the Battle of Armageddon?  Keep reading and you’ll know.

I put my Bible (and planner) down somewhere at work and it disappeared.  I wasn’t too disappointed because we have Bibles all over the place where I work.   You see, we hand them out to anyone who wants one (We give them the complete NLT…not my favorite but good enough).

I had lost an NASB of pretty good quality.

You know how you put something down somewhere, it “disappears,” and you give up looking for it because you figure it will eventually show up.  That’s where I was for a couple of days and a weekend.

(Ignore the picture above.  It has nothing in common with this post except the word “disappear.”)

What does the vanishing Bible have to do with the Battle of Armageddon or an Egyptian king?  Keep reading and you might make a discovery.

People donate Bibles to the place I work.  They come in all shapes, sizes, condition, and translation.  I opened a file cabinet less than a week after I lost my Bible and there it was,  the donated Bible that had intrigued me when it came in.  I had forgotten about it, but now I was glad to see it.  It has become my new work Bible.  I will note the name of the Bible in the footnotes. It is one thick hombre.

My “find”

It is a King James Bible and there is an interesting work in it.  How accurate the work is I don’t know.  But it dates most major Biblical events; things like the creation and the Exodus.  I’ve never heard of it before I saw this one.

I have always been curious about the identity of the Pharaoh that Moses saw as an adult.  The 1965 version of Halley’s handbook gives different possibilities about those who may have oppressed the Hebrews and about the pharaohs who may have denied Moses’ request to “let my people go.”

Halley notes Pharaohs who may have met in the duel over the Hebrews.  They are Amenhotep II (his mummy is at Thebes), and Merneptah (his mummy is in Cairo).  In fact, Halley lists these two as the “two leading opinions.”(1) Dating systems put these pharaohs around 200 years apart with about 10 pharaohs between them.

I found 53 possible exodus candidates in only two other sources (if one includes the Hyksos pharaohs…a group of outsiders that invaded Egypt). I didn’t have to look far to find my 53 (also my age).  Imagine if I had really studied this thing.

Mr. Halley writes “If the exodus was under Merneptah, then Rameses II was the great oppressor of Israel, whose daughter brought up Moses.  (2)

“Thus Moses was brought up either under Thothmes III (Mr. Halley has spelled Thutmose III two different ways) or under Rameses II, both of whom were among Egypt’s most famous kings.” (3)

To repeat, Mr. Halley writes that “Moses led Israel out of Egypt either under Amenhotep II, or under Merneptah. (4)

So, the Hollywood version that is shown on network stations every Easter is wrong according to most scholars.  The Pharaoh in the movie (Yul Brenner) is Ramses II, not a good possibility.

Halley writes that the one “thought to have been the Oppressor of Israel” is Thotmes III (also known as Thutmose III), Queen Hatshepsut’s half brother (Other sources call Hatshepsut Thutmose III’s stepmother and aunt).(5)  In any case, she was “regent” the first 20 years of his reign: and “though he despised her, she completely dominated him.”(6)

“After her death, he ruled alone 30 years. He was the greatest conqueror in Egyptian history.” (7)

Halley states “His mummy is at Cairo.” (8)

This would mean that Thutmose the III was pharaoh when Moses was a baby.

Now you are probably wondering what this has to do with my post title.  Hang in there and follow this rabbit trail with me….please?

Very interesting is the fact, again mentioned by Mr. Halley, that “Whichever it was, the MUMMIES OF ALL FOUR have been found.  So we may now see the actual face of the Pharaoh of Moses’ day, and with whom Moses himself had intimate dealings.” (9)

I’ve always been interested in the subject and this Bible that I had run across might lend some insight because of its dating of events.

You can probably guess what I did.

I went to Exodus 2 to see when Moses was born according to my new find. (10)

The date given for Moses birth was March 6, 1542 BC. (11)

Mr. Frank R. Klassen of Laguna Hills California must have spent years studying the Bible and putting dates to events.  We won’t know if he was right until we get to heaven.  I’m sure they have the records up there.

Anyway, I looked to see who the pharaoh was in 1542 B.C., according to Mr. Klassen.

If you are still looking for the connection with Armageddon, I’ll get there.

One problem is that different scholars give different dates for the reigns of the pharaohs.

In many dating opinions, 1542 BC would make Ahmose the pharaoh who knew Moses as an infant. Or it was one of the last pharaohs of the 17th dynasty which was the last dynasty of the Middle Kingdom.  If this is true, it depends on how many pharaohs Egypt went through while Moses was in the desert.

Confused?  Ok, let’s get to the BIG QUESTION.

I went to Exodus 5 for the BIG QUESTION.  When did Moses take the people out of Egypt?   If I could find out the “when,” I could find out the “who.”

According to Mr. Klassen, it was on April 15th, 1462 BC, which in almost all Egyptian dating systems puts Thutmose III, “the greatest conqueror in Egyptian history” as Halley has stated, as the one who faced the adult Moses. (12)

That would mean that while Moses was in the desert all of those years, at least two pharaohs came and went, Thutmose II and the famous Hatshepsut.

So, Moses “met” two pharaohs.  The pharaoh he saw as an adult wasn’t the pharaoh whose home he was taken into.  This is almost certain no matter what dating system one uses.

Now comes the interesting part.  Drum roll please.  If you’ve waded through this far, you deserve some interesting stuff.

If Thutmose III was the man who had his heart hardened – who wouldn’t let the Hebrews go – then there is an interesting fact you should know.

There have been three major “Battles of Armageddon” in history.  The second is recorded in 2 Kings 23: 29-30.  It is generally regarded as having taken place in 609 B.C.

The third occurred in 1918.  You can read about it here. (13)

It is something about the first “Battle of Armageddon” that is the interesting fact.  It was fought and won by Thutmose III, Egypt’s “greatest conqueror.”  You can read about the battle here. (14)

Interestingly, this first “Battle of Armageddon” is described as the first battle ever recorded in detail. Google “first recorded battle in history” and see what you find. (15)

I think that Thutmose III’s scribe exaggerated the victory a bit.

Embellished or not, Thutmose III is highly respected.  Type in “The Napoleon of Egypt” into a Google word search and you will find something like this:

Thutmose III The Napoleon of Ancient Egypt 1479 – 1425 BC. Some believe Rameses II was the greatest Egyptian ruler but this not true; he spent Egypt’s wealth on massive building projects where as Thutmose III actually created Egypt’s wealth. Thutmose III possessed the archetypal qualities of a great ruler.” (16)

He created the largest empire that Egypt had ever seen. (17)

Here is where I take a leap.  I think, unlike most scholars, that Thutmose III was the pharaoh that hardened his heart and would not let the Hebrews go.

Why do I think this?  Well, it fits Mr. Klassen’s Calendarized Study Bible perfectly.

Mr. Klassen puts 80 years between the birth of Moses and his taking of the Hebrews out of Egypt.  Eighty is a match with the Bible.

This is not my only reason.

If you were God, who would you have Moses face?  I’m not God and I don’t know but I’ll take a guess.  I think God would choose the greatest conquering pharaoh of all time. (I’ll get comments on this statement and I welcome them.)

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Thutmose III fought and won the first recorded battle in history.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Thutmose III was the winning leader of the first battle of Armageddon.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that two men who spent their entire lives working on dating systems came up with dates that would put Thutmose III in the important role of the pharaoh of the exodus.

Mr. Klassen isn’t the only one whose dates fit Thutmose III.

Have you heard of J.R. Church?  He worked his entire life on a dating system.  He is one of my favorite Bible teachers who specialized in Bible prophecy.  He died last year.

The last book that he wrote, Daniel Reveals The Bloodline of the Anti-Christ, J.R. has a timeline in it (in the back).  It is very elaborate but doesn’t mention the Egyptian pharaohs.  You can get more info on J.R.’s book here.

He put the date for the exodus at 1492/1491 on Nisan 15.  This date puts Thutmose III closer to the adult Moses than the other three major possibilities.

Did I mention that Thutmose III was the first pharaoh called Pharaoh? (18)  It means “Great House.”

To see a good picture of Thutmose III, you can go here. (19)

After a study like this, I have many questions, but a main one.

Why haven’t those who’ve studied these things, the real scholars, come to the same conclusion?  Maybe I’m missing something and would be glad to hear it from any of you.

There are many speculations.  There are a few You Tube videos that identify “Firoun” as the pharaoh during “Moses time.”

I looked at the list of all pharaohs known from the 1st to the 31st dynasty and saw no name that was close to Firoun.  Maybe I missed it, but I looked twice and didn’t see it. The closest thing I could find relating to Egyptian pharaohs is the word firon. (20)

In my short study, I didn’t find anyone else who had narrowed it to Thutmose III.  I’m sure there are others out there who have had the same thought.  If you find one, please let me know.

I didn’t go that in depth, but I did find a source that narrows the possibility down to 2, Thutmose III being one of them. (21)

There you have it; a theory from a curious person.

If you are ever in Cairo, stop and see the mummy of Thutmose III and I think you will be facing the man who spoke with a grown Moses.

If you want to save yourself the time and air fare check here. (22)  You see, Thutmose III’s mummy was damaged by grave robbers.  It was “so ruined that later mummy makers used wooden splints tied to what was left of the body to reinforce it.” (23)

Lastly, there is another Battle of Armageddon coming.  It’s referenced in Rev. 16:16.

But, that’s a subject for another time.

Now, if I can only find my lost Bible…

Chris Reimers (24)

P.S.  I could have saved myself some time by Googling “Thutmose III and the exodus.”  But then I wouldn’t have learned anything.  I did the google search as a final check as soon as I finished this draft.  I found one extensive study that agreed with me. (25)  Scanning it I didn’t see the link with Megiddo, however.  And I didn’t see J. R. Church or Mr. Klassen mentioned.  Their dating systems helped me form my conclusions.

I’m glad I did my own work, though it is not as extensive as the only one I could find with the same conclusion at which I arrived.  Steve Rudd feels that the evidence is overwhelming that Thutmose III was the pharaoh of the exodus.  Although someone has been here before, I’ve enjoyed a great journey and maybe added a jot or tittle.  Click here to see Mr. Rudd’s work and see a better picture of Thutmose III.

============================================

After-note:

It is July 27th, 2013.  I am looking at a more recent edition of Halley’s Handbook, published in 2000. In this version, Merneptah  (1236) is not a possibility for being the Pharaoh that Moses saw.  Here is a quote from the 2000 edition:

“On his stela he (Merneptah) mentions having defeated Israel – ‘Israel is laid waste, his seed is not’ – indicating that Israel was already in the land of Canaan.”

Thus, the two editions do not agree.

They do agree that Amenhotep II is a possible candidate for the pharaoh whom Moses saw.

Rameses II is mentioned in the first 1965 edition as being a possibility of being the pharaoh Moses was raised under.  The 2000 edition states “Some scholars consider him to be the pharaoh of the Exodus.”

In the 2000 edition, Thutmose III is “thought to be one of the oppressors of Israel.”

Despite what wiki states about Rameses II being the greatest pharaoh in history, both versions of Halley’s Handbook states that Thutmose III was the greatest.

Here are two sources that agree:

Was this ancient Egypt’s greatest military leader? (National Geographic)

(I saw this first in Mar. 2020. As far as I can tell, it was posted in 2016. My original post was put up in 2012. There are a few other articles and videos which have been posted after my post.)

“Thutmose III reigned from 1479 BCE to 1425 BCE according to the Low Chronology of Ancient Egypt.”  This wiki date fits not only both Halley’s Handbooks that I have, but also the Bible that I feature in this post (April 15, 1462 B..C.).

Most Biblical sources put the date near this for good reason.  The 2000 edition pictured here makes a case for 1446 B.C.  It has good reason.  It states:

“Since Solomon began to rule in 970 B.C. (Mr. Klassen puts the date at 983 B.C.)  the fourth year of his reign would be 966 B.C.  The text says that the Exodus from Egypt took place 480 years before this; that gives 1446 B.C.as the approximated dated of the Exodus.”

This is how Mr. Klassen gets his date of 1462.  Either way, the dates correspond with the wiki dates on Thutmose III.

Is wiki the ultimate source?  Of course it isn’t.  The Bible is our guide and God chooses not to identify, specifically, the pharaohs during the birth of Moses and during the time of the Exodus.  Therefore, we must speculate.  That is what I have done here.

If you are interested, you can come to your own conclusions.  The above post shares mine.

God’s blessings…

IRANIAN PASTOR SENTENCED TO DEATH

November 13, 2010

I would like to thank Bill Carpenter for sending me this story.  According to the Voice of the Martyrs’ website, Pastor Nardarkhani has been imprisoned for over a year.  The following information and image were taken from the VOM webpage (below).  Please pray for this brave man of God and his family. – CR

Recently, Pastor Youcef Nardarkhani was reportedly sentenced to death for apostasy. VOM contacts confirm that the pastor’s trial was held in recent weeks in the 11th Chamber of The Assize Court of the province of Gilan.

Pastor Youcef is one of several members of his church who have been imprisoned. In the past, the Iranian government has also imprisoned and released his wife. Pastor Youcef was arrested in October 2009 after protesting a decision by the government requiring that his son study the Quran.
Media reports suggest that Pastor Youcef was transferred to Lakan prison, which is supervised by the Political Police of the Islamic Republic. If a death sentence is officially handed down by the court and Pastor Youcef is executed, his would be the first judicial execution of a Christian in Iran in two decades.
Pastor Youcef is a leader in the Full Gospel “Church of Iran” network, a group that stands apart from most house church groups in Iran.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ISRAEL

September 17, 2010

First, I would like to give a brief history of what this day means.

Second, I would like to share a few reasons why I don’t think it’s a very happy new year in Israel.

Third, I would like to share a little about the future of Israel.

Yom Kippur begins today in Israel.  The “Day of Atonement,” it is perhaps the most important holiday of the Jewish year.

Many Jews will take off work and fast for this holy and most solemn day of repentance and reconciliation.

It was on this day – the only day – that the High Priest was able to enter the Holy of Holies, and then only after elaborate ceremonial washings, offerings, and associated rituals. This was also the day that two goats were selected, one for an offering and one as the “scapegoat.” As many aspects of the feasts were prophetic, the scapegoat is also Messianic. The ceremonial acts that were to be carried out by the High Priest on Yom Kippur are described in Leviticus 16 (see also Exodus 30:10; Leviticus 23:27-31, 25:9; Numbers 29:7-11). Since the loss of the Temple in 70 A.D., the God-centered observances of the Torah have tragically been replaced with a man-centered, good works system of appeasement through prayer, charity, and penitence. (1)

“Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.”
– Leviticus 23:27-28

Why is this New Year not a happy one?

Anyone remotely aware of the events surrounding Israel can see that their enemies are tightening the noose.

In the news just today,

Russia plans to go ahead with the sale of anti-ship missiles to Syria. The United States and Israel are opposed to the sale, agreed in 2007, fearing the weapons could fall into the hands of the radical Hezbollah movement in Lebanon. (2)

Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov confirmed in Washington that Russia would supply Syria with P-800 Yakhont cruise missiles, Russian news agencies reported Friday (today). (3)

Russia has signed deals with Syria under which it will sell it warplanes, antitank weapons and air defense systems, Itar-Tass news agency quoted a senior Russian arms trader.  This was back in May. (4)

Anyone who is not aware that Syria is a puppet of Iran…well, now you know it.

Iran, whose leader has repeatedly talked of destroying the “Zionists,” continues to ignore any kind of sanctions in its desire to obtain powerful weapons of mass destruction.  They already have missiles capable of reaching Europe and they are very close to having a powerful weapon.  Concerned countries are watching their seismographs in an attempt to identify a weapons test.

At this point, the “answer” to the huge Iranian threat is to work on putting a missile defense system in place to “cover” Europe. The Russians haven’t yet approved of such a system. (5)

I wonder how Israel feels about protecting Europe?  They may be happy for Europe but…

And what is the U.S doing?

Visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “appealed” to the Israeli leader to continue the freeze (on settlement building), even just for a “limited time,” saying it would be “extremely useful” if he would agree. (6)

Now, that’s a strong solution to the problem (that’s sarcasm).  In her defense, the only real solution is to bomb the facilities where the manufacturing of the weaponry is occurring.  That’s not something that I want to publicly endorse, but their enemies keep painting Israel into a smaller corner.

I could add a hundred other items that make this New Year’s Day one of concern for those living in Israel.

So, what’s going to happen and when?  No one can say specifically for certain.  But there are a few things that, I think, are certainties based on scriptures from the Bible.

There will eventually be a war.  Their are many references to war, but the one with the most specifics is in Ezekiel 38 and 39.

Ezekiel 38:8 says”

“After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel whih had been a continual wast; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them.”

This is speaking to those who will attack Israel.  Surprise…Persia (Iran) is listed as one of the nations.

The next verse describes the attack:

“And you will go up, you will come like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all you troops, and many peoples with you.” (v.9)

Verses 19-22 tell the results of the battle.

You should read these verses yourself.  I’ll summarize it: Earthquakes and a torrential rain of hailstones, fire and brimstone will rain on Israel’s enemies.

“For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them in order to cleanse the land.” (Ezekiel 39:12)

Israel will not be destroyed.

And what will happen to the U.S.?

The Bible says that those who bless Israel will be blessed.

There is not clear mention of the U.S. in Bible prophecy but, based on the last sentence, I think some of the U.S. outcome will be a result of our support of Israel.

What will happen after the war that’s coming?

I’ll save my opinion on that for an upcoming post.

Happy New Year Israel!!!

PEACE SUMMIT AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY

September 3, 2010

I’ve read more than a few articles about the peace talks “surrounding” Israel.  I never like to be a “negative Nelly,” but I’m, sadly, in agreement with the title above. -CR

Friday, September 3, 2010

By Dr. James M. Hutchens
The Jerusalem Connection

Israel’s Interior Minister Eli Yishai said: “The shootings only prove that peace talks will lead to nowhere, because Hamas is the ruler on the ground, and won’t let the Palestinian Authority reach an agreement.”… “Let’s say [Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas] makes an agreement with us, where we make painful sacrifices. Hamas and all the other terror organizations will start attacking again – so what did we do? We must stand up for our principles and never give up on them: Stop terror, recognize Israel as a Jewish state, stop provoking violence, and start negotiations without conditions.”

God says: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem a unmovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. … On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.” [Zachariah 12:2-3, 6].

The Jerusalem Connection says: All presidents since Harry Truman have sought the major foreign policy achievement of being the architect of a mid-east peace settlement. All have failed. The present peace Summit must likewise be seen as an exercise in futility. The sons of Isaac will be reconciled to the sons of Ishmael only when the Messiah comes. On-going peace summits are merely speed bumps that slow the march to the inevitable conflagration that the prophets foretold. The best that can be hoped for in the meantime is the defeat, containment and dismantling of the terrorist infrastructure of Israel’s Jihadist foes. The visceral hate of Palestinians for Jews is embedded in their DNA. No peace summit will ever change that. Only the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ can change that. For believers however, we should pray what Jesus told us to pray, with the expectation that if he said pray for it, he intends to answer the prayer: “Be always on the watch and pray that you may have the power to escape all that is about to happen and that you may stand before the Son of Man.” [Luke 21:36].

THE JOYS OF MUSLIM WOMEN

July 21, 2010

This is the second time a post has appeared here with this title.  An email from Barbara gives us a snapshot of the life of one Muslim woman and information about Shariah law. – CR

…Nonie Darwish was born in Egypt as a Muslim.

In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child, consummating the marriage by 9. The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) for the purchase of her private parts. Even though a woman is abused, she cannot obtain a divorce. To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses. Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry.  The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives at will and no explanation is necessary. The husband is permitted to have (4 wives) and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion.

The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman. In the Western World (including America) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife cannot obtain a divorce. Thus, he can have full and complete control of her.  It is amazing and alarming how many are attending American Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law. By passing this on, enlightened American women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law.

“Ripping the West in Two”

Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two. She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law.

Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before immigrating to America in 1978, when she was eight years old. Her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel.  He was a high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza . When he died, he was considered a “shahid,” a martyr for jihad. His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.

But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing.. She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television. In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law – what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries. For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed.

Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual.  Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world. Peace and prosperity for one’s children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world. While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Sharia teaches two systems of ethics – one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others. While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God, Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism. It’s hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed.

Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West, such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation. While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time, Darwish explains how petro dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere. (In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President by themselves! … You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA … Dearborn Mich. is one example. Or, look at Europe and see the communities where local police are not even welcome in their own areas of jurisdiction. IF  we allow these folks to immigrate here, we need to be sure they are willing to assimilate, not form sub-cultures and communities within our society.

While America is getting rid of Christianity from all public sites and erasing God from the lives of children the Muslims are planning a great jihad on America …

ALARMING VIDEO: OBAMA AND ISRAEL

July 4, 2010

…………It is amazing what can be done over the internet.  I spent some time with Christian friends in a chat room yesterday.  They live in Holland, Italy, and England.  Part of our “discussion” centered around the move of Islam in Europe.  They are very concerned.

I don’t think the man who is interviewed here is a Christian.  He is a Jewish man with a list of accomplishments.  His words mirror those that I have read and heard in many places.

After the video post, I have noted why I think this issue is so important.  After that, I have posted two links, one for the second time that contains a short video on the truth about Israel, and a second about the Iranian President’s reaction to our latest sanctions.  Note that Mr. Obama wasn’t the originator of the sanctions.

The reason it is important:

To Whom Did God Give The Land of Israel?

To Abraham

* “On that day the Lord made a COVENANT with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates.”
Genesis 15:18

* “And I will establish my COVENANT between me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an evelasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, ALL THE LAND OF CANAAN as an EVERLASTING possession; and I will be their God.”
Genesis 17:7-8

Then to Abraham’s son Isaac:

* “And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and thou shalt call his name ISAAC; and I will establish my covenant with him for an EVERLASTING COVENANT, and with his seed after him.”
Genesis 17:19

* “But I will establish my covenant with ISAAC, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this season next year.”
Genesis 17:21

* “…for IN ISAAC SHALL YOUR SEED BE CALLED.”
Genesis 21:12

And then to Isaac’s son Jacob:

* “Remember his marvelous works which He has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth, O seed of Abraham his servant, you children of JACOB, his chosen ones!”
1st Chronicles 16:12-13

* “Then Jacob said to Joseph: ‘God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me, and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make of you a multitude of people, and give this land TO YOUR DESCENDANTS after you as an everlasting possession.’”
Genesis 48:3-4

He Repeats To Make It Clear:

* “O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of JACOB, his chosen ones! He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded, for a thousand generations, the covenant which he made with ABRAHAM, and his oath to ISAAC, and confirmed it to JACOB for a statute, to ISRAEL for an everlasting covenant, saying, ‘To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance…’”
Psalms 105:6-11

Jacob’s Name Changed To Israel:

*And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel

Genesis 32:28

God Told Moses His Covenant Is With Israel:

* “Then the Lord spoke to Moses that very same day, saying: ‘Go up this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, across from Jericho; view the land of Canaan, which I give TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL as a possession…’”

The Borders of The Covenant Land:

* “On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates.”
Genesis 15:18

“Ahmadinejad says the latest sanctions are ‘Pathetic:'”

http://www.jpost.com/IranianThreat/News/Article.aspx?id=180308

Here is the most important section of the Jerusalem Post article:

“The measure was passed overwhelmingly by the Senate and House last week ahead of the July 4 recess. Sponsors described it as the toughest yet to target Iran.

Though the Obama administration had expressed reservations about the details of the legislation, its main concern was that the move would disrupt its own efforts to get a new sanctions resolution through the UN Security Council.”

In other words, the interview posted at the top of this post is backed up by the Obama administration’s latest move. – CR

WAR OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS MAY COME SOON

June 7, 2010

I thought it could happen last summer.  It now seems this summer may be the time.  If either the EU or Iran use military force to aid “aid” ships to Gaza, there will be war.  Bible students know what this war could mean.

Reports state that both Iran and EU reps are saying that the “flotilla” event will not happen the same way again.

Israel is saying that it will defend itself.

It appears that many are pushing the little land that God gave the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, into war.

How much verbiage is rhetoric and how much gets acted upon remains.

I have a Christian friend who knows of a believer who is living and ministering in Israel.  The ministry is called “Love Without Boarders” and was started by one lady.  She is on the ground in Israel, so I would consider this information a primary source.  It is true that she is getting her information locally so one has to view it accordingly.  The information is dated June 6th.  I have put the intro at the end because a rearrangement puts material relating to my headline at the top.

Ron Kunath is the name of my Christian friend.  His email stated:

“This is a Prayer Letter from a dear Missionary friend I worked with for many years. Check out the Gaza Flotilla Video below…God bless….RK”

Here is the Latest new “flotilla” info:

Christian Friends of Israel,

Beginning of Gog and Magog? – Concerning the incident this week which is

trying to give Israel bad publicity the Rabbinical Council issued an unusual

statement “We are at the beginning of Gog and Magog process where the world

is against us at first, but which ends with the third and final redemption.”

Gaza Tunnels – An estimated 1,000 tunnels are in use to smuggle various

black market goods as well as drugs and weapons. Several thousand young men

and boys are employed in the tunnels. Workers are paid $20 a day, according

to Arab media. Some tunnel operators say children are more likely than

adults to work hard even for the lower wage.

Israeli Sub deployed – Israel has allegedly deployed a permanent submarine

presence in the Persian Gulf to keep an eye on Iran, according to  media

reports published Sunday. The three German-built submarines are reportedly

equipped with nuclear cruise missiles.

Syria Supports Hizbulla – Hizbullah terrorists are running weapons to

Lebanon from secret arms depots in Syria where the terrorists have been

accorded their own living quarters, arms storage site and a fleet of trucks,

Palestinians Boycott Israel – The Israel boycott by the Palestinian

Authority took on wider dimensions when Arabs burned two Arab stores for

allegedly doing business with Jews.

Hamas Refuses Flotilla Humanitarian Aid – Hamas continues to prevent the

transfer of the humanitarian aid which has been unloaded at the Kerem Shalom

crossing. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories

(COGAT) will continue to work closely with international bodies and the

Palestinian Authority in order to organize the transfer of the goods into

the Gaza Strip.

More Gas and Possibly Oil found in Israel – According to the Globes

financial journal, the field has been discovered to be even larger than

previously thought. The field’s estimated size has grown several times as

more surveys are conducted.  Last year  Teshuva, originally said the gas

reserves could allow Israel to be self-sufficient in energy for two decades,

but now it seems that was a conservative estimate.  “The results indicate

that in addition to the gas, there are signs of oil at a greater depth. We

have turned Israel into a great energy power. Today is a holiday for every

citizen of Israel. It’s a day of joy,”  The offshore platform will be imported from the gulf of Mexico.

Israel Update #12
Love Without Borders

June 6, 2010

Shalom!

Thanks for your prayers, the Lord answered and one of my co-workers returned
to Israel to continue helping with the work.

I met with the Ministry of Tourism this week to share some information and
thoughts so that Christians who are wanting to come to Israel can learn
more, meet the people and serve during their tour.  It was a productive
meeting and he invited me to take a desk at the Ministry of Tourism and work
from their office.  It would not be practical for me, but it was an honor to
be invited.  I will continue to work with him and others on staff so that we
can build a better understanding between Israel and Christians from abroad.

Israel is certainly a land of opportunity, but it is also a land of
opposition.  I guess that’s why we are told in 2 Timothy 2:3 You therefore
endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  We are in a battle,
wherever we are, but soldiers don’t quit in the middle of a battle.  (I
learned that from my dad who fought in both Korea and Viet Nam.) I believe
the Lord wants us to be doers of the Word, pray for one anther and continue to move forward following and serving Him.
