“THE WITNESS” BECOMES 30

June 5, 2010

WOW!!!  That was Excellent!  Praise the Lord!!!  These thoughts went through my mind as I was leaving this year’s opening performance of a special event.

I have been living in Hot Springs for almost 15 years now, live only 10 minutes away, and had never seen it before.  There are many excuses.  But when Judy McEarl, the director of the play invited me and my family because of my association with Change Point, how could I turn it down?  I had no idea that I lived so close to the beautiful Panther Valley Ranch area where “The Witness” is performed.

Church groups had come from Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas to view the opener.  Folks from Missouri and Illinois were also in the crowd.

They were not disappointed.  Judy and the cast and crew have done an outstanding job of creating a musical that represents the life of our Savior.

The play begins as soon as the sun goes down.  That means that the starting time changes throughout the season.

On this particular evening, as the life of Jesus was wonderfully depicted, one could look up at a cloudless sky and view the same stars that Jesus saw (and had created) when he walked among us.  The song selections were outstanding; certain events of Jesus’ life chosen creatively.  There was joy, humor, laughter, and tears.

When the soldiers marched into the garden to arrest Jesus, I could imagine what it must have been like on that night long ago; very similar but darker.

The resurrection was awesome.

What a blessing it was to see a special edition of a special show.

And it was right under my nose all of the time.

I look forward to seeing it again soon.

AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH

June 3, 2010

Sad.  That is my emotion after seeing this video.  It is sad on so many levels.  The laughter and comments of the clip’s commentators are as disturbing as the video.  McDonalds now has a policy that anything goes.  It is yet another cultural indicator that we are nearing a tribulation period that will occur before the return of our glorious Savior.  How it will all play out is something that no one can say with certainty.  No man knows the hour.

The recent event in Israel  is another indicator.  One death started World War I.  The kindling beneath the current, unique, flammable situation is in place. Only the right spark is needed.  Is the spark the flotilla event?  I don’t know.  If it isn’t, it certainly appears that the stage is set.  All that remains: a spark and the opening of the curtains.

If you are not a Bible student, it is time to become one.  If you haven’t trusted in Jesus, now is the time.  If you do, you will be in the minority.  A recent Barna poll seems accurate.  Data collected indicates that 16% still believe the entire Bible as the guide post.  Sixty-two percent pick and choose what they want.  They decide which part of the Bible is correct.  They decide which commandments are good and which ones aren’t.  They trust in themselves, not the Word of God.

The poll was taken within the “Christian community” in America.

If you don’t think we are experiencing attitudes similar to ones in the days of Noah, watch this video:

JAMES TAKES FIRST STEPS

June 2, 2010

The Trent Family at Change Point

Every once in a while you have one of those experiences.  I had one yesterday.

A family came into the Center to continue parenting classes.  I was blessed to be the one to spend time with them.

Bobby Trent, the one with the hat on in the picture above, is holding his grandson James. Bobby is Shandi’s father.  Shandi is the one with the big smile on the left of her Dad as you look at the Picture. James is Shandi’s son.

Cindy Trent, Bobby’s wife (pink shirt) was there also, along with Vanessa (blue shirt).  Vanessa and Shandi are sisters.

We had our session in one of the counseling rooms at Change Point (There is a link below if you would like to see the Change Point website).  The subject for the day was communication, and James was in the mood to do just that.  He was chatting from the time we walked into the room, was very patient with me throughout, and clearly understood most of what went on.

While playing on the floor during the discussion, James reached over and grabbed my shoe.  I had been accepted.

About half-way through our “class,” Vanessa was clearly startled by something that had happened.

I asked her about it.

“James just walked,” she said.  “He walked for the first time.”

“I didn’t see it,” said his mom.

“It’s OK,” I said. “You’ll see plenty of it.”

The room was quiet.

I wish I could quote word for word what Shandi said next.  Maybe Shandi remembers and can tell me.  She has a great memory.  She knows how I know this.

“My job just got harder,” she stated.

Laughter filled the room.

I didn’t see James take his first step and I can’t remember mine.  However, I felt it an honor to be there on the day a young child began his journey.

The word “walk” is used many times in the Bible.

God said this to King Solomon:

“If you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and commandments, as your father David walked, then I will prolong your days.”

Solomon began his prayer of Temple dedication with these words:

“O LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing lovingkindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart.”

These are the first words in the Psalms:

“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.”

Luke describes Zacharias and Elizabeth, the parents of John the Baptist, like this:

“They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.”

In his letter to the people of Rome, Paul wrote:

“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”

James took his first steps yesterday.  He is a blessed little boy.  He has a mom, aunt, and grandparents who believe in the words quoted above.

I was blessed to be there for his first steps.  May God continue to be with James and bless his walk through life.

WHO HEALETH ALL THY DISEASES

May 31, 2010

“Who healeth all thy diseases.” —Psalm 103:3

Humbling as is the statement, yet the fact is certain, that we are all more or less suffering under the disease of sin. What a comfort to know that we have a great Physician who is both able and willing to heal us! Let us think of him awhile today. His cures are very speedy –there is life in a look at him; his cures are radical –he strikes at the center of the disease; and hence, his cures are sure and certain. He never fails, and the disease never returns. There is no relapse where Christ heals; no fear that his patients should be merely patched up for a season, he makes new men of them: a new heart also does he give them, and a right spirit does he put with them. He is well skilled in all diseases. Physicians generally have some specialty. Although they may know a little about almost all our pains and ills, there is usually one disease which they have studied above all others; but Jesus Christ is thoroughly acquainted with the whole of human nature. He is as much at home with one sinner as with another, and never yet did he meet with an out of the way case that was difficult to him. He has had extraordinary complications of strange diseases to deal with, but he has known exactly with one glance of his eye how to treat the patient. He is the only universal doctor; and the medicine he gives is the only true catholicon, healing in every instance. Whatever our spiritual malady may be, we should apply at once to this Divine Physician. There is no brokenness of heart which Jesus cannot bind up. “His blood cleanseth from all sin.” We have but to think of the myriads who have been delivered from all sorts of diseases through the power and virtue of his touch, and we shall joyfully put ourselves in his hands. We trust him, and sin dies; we love him, and grace lives; we wait for him and grace is strengthened; we see him as he is, and grace is perfected for ever.

MR. OBAMA UNIQUE AGAIN

May 31, 2010

Our current Commander-in-Chief has made history.  He said that we would have change.  He wasn’t kidding.

Many have criticized him for missing the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington.  The truth is that others have missed it.  The following link has information about recent presidents.  Although I don’t trust the source completely, it’s probably ok on this subject:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/memorialday.asp

If I were President, I would have been at Arlington.

How is Mr. Obama unique?  I know he did the same thing last year, but it doesn’t make him any less exclusive.

Last Wednesday, Mr. Obama declared June “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. He is the first president to issue such a proclamation.

Mr. Obama has taken us to a new moral low the last two years.

It is true that Bill Clinton declared June of 2000 “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month.”  Mr. Obama has gone farther.  There are two differences.  The first difference is the additional inclusions of Mr. Obama.  The second is the timing.  Mr. Clinton waited until Memorial Day was over (June 2nd) to make his declaration.  Mr. Obama had no problem making his proclamation before Memorial Day.

Not only has Mr. Obama made it clear that our military will help create a “new international order,” he is working hard to break yet another barrier.  His declaration is no surprise.  The timing is no accident.  He wants the United States military to welcome homosexuals.

Mr. Obama wants to welcome into the military those who openly sin against the God of Creation.  We already have homosexuals in the courts, in Congress, and in the pulpits.  The shock has worn off for many.

The  homosexual “community” has decided their  behavior is a human right.  Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama agree that it is.  They are wrong.  It is not a right.  It is a possibility.  Homosexuality is a possibility because humans have free will.  Homosexuality is a sin.  I don’t think this because I don’t like homosexuals.  I believe this because God’s Word says it.

Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama both call themselves Christians.  How is it possible to be a Christian and continually be in disobedience to God’s Holy Word?  I think they both know about the following words and choose to think that their ways are higher than God’s Ways:

22Professing to be wise, they became fools,

23and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.

25For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,

27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,

29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,

30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,

31without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful;

32and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

These are the last words in the first chapter of Romans. They are as clear as can be.

No president has ever been perfect.  All men are sinful.  However, no previous president has dared push the limits of God’s moral law this far.  It is an indicator of our culture’s tolerance of sin.

Will America awaken?  Will we turn from our sin or will things get worse?

We have been on a steady spiritual decline until the last twenty years.  Since then, things have gotten exponentially worse.  There were huge negative blips on the radar in 1962 and 1973.  In 2010, the blips seem to be a daily occurrence.

May God have mercy on us.

ANOTHER LEADER: “GLOBAL PROBLEMS CALL FOR GLOBAL SOLUTIONS AND GLOBAL LEADERSHIP”

May 26, 2010

A muslim leader wrote an opinion piece for the L.A. times yesterday. Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad Hariri made some very interesting comments.  Just off of a visit with Mr. Obama, he paints a precarious picture of the Middle East.

“Frustration and tragedy have replaced the failed peace,” he said.

Mr. Hariri says that the U.S. is in a position to take the leadership role.  Mr. Hariri discredits the fanatics, but indicates that moderate Muslims are tired of waiting for Israel to make concessions.  “They have turned a blind eye to those parameters “(of sustainable peace). He says that something needs to be done soon.

I disagree with Mr. Hariri that the problem is Israel’s fault.  I agree with him that the Middle East situation has global ramifications.

No one has a closer view of the situation than this man.  The pressure from the radicals is rising and the moderate Muslims are feeling the heat.

Why won’t they leave little Israel alone?  They have all of that land and it’s not enough.  They continue to pressure the free little nation.

Mr. Hariri thinks Mr. Obama, the U.N. Security Council, or the “quartet” are the brokers for peace in this situation.  It looks like we need a savior fast, and I have a feeling the world isn’t going to turn to the real one soon.

IS THE NEW WORLD ORDER MAN COMING TO AMERICA?

May 23, 2010

…………It wouldn’t surprise me.  He has stepped down as Britain’s Prime Minister and there are murmurs that he is moving to New York.  The murmurs are unconfirmed at this point.  If they become reality, who could possibly be shocked.  I have seen it happen so many times in my short life.  It looks like a person’s political career is over and they end up in a position that you would never expect.  Diane Feinstein is the first example that comes to mind.  She couldn’t hold on to a mayor’s job and the next thing you knew she was a senator.

Besides the rumors that he is heading for New York, some folks think that he is going to be the next head of the IMF (The International Monetary Fund) .  This would be no shock either.  Presently, there are too few sources to put legs on the story.  However, here’s one of the sources:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/05/16/brown-s-heading-to-us-for-imf-role-115875-22261637

I don’t know much about the IMF, but I am learning.

Did you know that the IMF tossed in hundreds of millions of dollars to bail out the EU in the recent crisis?

This is the purpose statement taken from the IMF website:

“The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an organization of 186 countries (190 in 2023), working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.”

http://www.imf.org/external/about.htm

One of the purposes of the IMF is to “reduce poverty around the world.”  Pardon me for being skeptical, particularly towards a group that is “fostering global monetary cooperation.”  How many times has it been discovered that money designated for the poor somehow ended up paying for some guy’s 10,000 square foot house?  Not enough times in my opinion.

Here’s a story about a guy building a 35, 000 square ft. mansion.  If this is going on inside the “church,” imagine what’s happening in the world.

http://truedsicernment.com/2010/05/26/duplantis-ministry-is-big-business

The reason that I call Gordon Brown “The New World Order Man” is because of the number of times he has used the term.  Gordon Brown and the IMF are a perfect fit.  They articulate the same goals.  Below is a short list of some of the statements that Mr. Brown has made in the past few years.  There is a link beneath each New World Order quote if you would like to hear it with your own ears.  Mr. Brown may have a job in New York sometime in the near future.

WHAT AN S-300 IS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

May 23, 2010

Mr. Obama is scheduled to meet today (May 24) with Lebanese President Saad Hariri.  The US is stating “grave concerns” over Hezbollah’s buildup of arms in Southern Lebanon.  It is likely to be a topic during today’s discussion.  The following headline appeared yesterday:

Hizbullah arms of ‘grave concern’

http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?ID=176129

The Israelis are sure to doubt any “grave concerns” because of  recent U.S. decisions.  The change of position on the S-300 is one of several Obama Administration policy changes that have caused the people of Israel to question American support.

An S-300 is a Russian made anti-aircraft battery.  It is capable of shooting down sophisticated multi-million dollar warplanes.

The Obama Administration has “made concessions,” agreeing not to ban the sale of Russian anti-aircraft batteries to Tehran.

The New York Times, a source that I can’t remember using previously, is reporting that:

“The concessions are the latest moves in President Obama’s effort to establish a fresh partnership with Russia after years of mutual suspicion.”

It goes on to state:

“The latest moves generated a fresh barrage of criticism from lawmakers and national security experts who said the administration was giving away too much and getting too little in return.”

Here’s the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/22/world/22sanctions.html

There is no question that the unease of those living in Israel will intensify after another awful decision by the Obama Administration.  The following quote is no surprise:

“Military sources point out to debkafile, that Washington’s uneven and inconsistent approach to Iran and Syria make naught of the protestations made by President Obama and other US officials of their unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security.”

This decision by the Obama Administration has created more instability in a situation that is already way out of control.
