Thanks, Chris. Great movie and great segment!

You’re welcome, Tom. I like this movie, too. As you probably know, it’s about basketball but it captures life as I think of it in smalltown American in the 1950s’ well.

A lot of good moral lessons in that movie. Hard to believe it came out forty years ago.

For sure…lots of good moral lessons in that one. I think it’s in my top three of favorite sports movies. I’ve heard of more than one high school team that has watched this movie before a big game. I also know that many who aren’t particularly basketball fans have enjoyed the movie. It is hard to believe it came out that long ago. It’s still a pretty popular movie from what I understand.

  2. I needed to hear this Chris, so thank you! It reminds me of a little poem I wrote once…” if the battle is the Lord’s… then what have we to fear?” So much scripture out there to show that it is in HIS strength… not ours that we face up to certain things in this life.

I’m always thankful if anything I put up helps anyone at all, so I’m very glad to hear that this helped.
Amen, Elizabeth, the battle is the Lord’s! And, indeed, scripture is so full of encouragement to let God handle things that we can do nothing about. In His strength alone!

  3. Hoosiers is such a great movie–and I love this part–the prayer before the big game!! Thanks for sharing. Sweet memories. 🙂
