OUT OF TUNE

By Donald Grey Barnhouse

westminsterSeveral  years ago, musicians noted that errand boys in a certain part of London all whistled out of tune as they went about their work.  It was talked about and someone suggested that it was because the bells of Westminster were slightly out of tune.  Something had gone wrong with the chimes and they were discordant.  The boys did not know there was anything wrong with the peals, and quite unconsciously they had copied them.

So you will tend to copy the people you are most with; you will borrow your thoughts from the books you read and the programs you listen to, almost without knowing it.  God has given us His Word, never out of tune, to set the standard for our song.  Here is the absolute pitch of life and living.  If we learn to sing by it, we shall easily detect the false in all of the music of the world.[1]

Great post. I like to reflect on the Word of God as a tuning fork for my off beat heart that needs constant tuning. Sometimes my off key ways cause the heavenly choir to give a concerned look.

Very well put, Manny. I’m sure that choir looks in my direction often. We would be lost without the Word of God. It would be kind of like a man without perfect pitch trying to tune a piano minus a tuning fork.

      God’s blessings my friend…
