Annie Herring and Dallas Holm

It has been a long time since I’ve seen anything from Anne Herring and Dallas Holm. I think you’ll really enjoy this video.

They are both laughing at the beginning and then they begin to rehash some amazing history.

Both of these artists were there at the start of what was called “Contemporary Christian Music”.

I remember those days well. Take a listen and please give me your feedback.

Here they are…(Drum roll please!)….Annie Herring and Dallas Holm!!!

(Please, don’t expect a concert!) πŸ™‚

God’s blessings…

(Please leave as many comments as you want, but I probably won’t get to them until after my surgery on Friday.)

(I’ll get to them as soon as I possibly can. 😊)

Hi Elizabeth. You are welcome for the video. I also think that it is very good.

I so appreciate your prayers for my surgery.

God has answered them, Praise the Lord!

My wife picked me up at the hospital earlier today.

The blockage is gone and so is the kidney stone!

I will have about six weeks of recuperation and then things should get back to normal.

Again, thank you for your prayers.

May God continue to bless you and yours!

      In Christ,

      Chris πŸ™‚

One of my favorite songs by Annie Herring is β€œPurify Me”.

    • Chris's avatar Chris says:

Thank you for your comment, Cathy.

I have not heard of the song “purify Me.”

I think I’ll try to find it on Facebook.

I appreciate you sharing this information with me.

  7. Chris. Finally got a chance to watch the video, because we were out of town. I really love Annie/2nd Chapters music. They are genuine followers of Christ and it was never about money. Saw them in a small auditorium in Mississippi and could tell that God was going to use them in a big way. Especially with reaching young people for Jesus. So, thanks for sharing this.
And. Jim and I are praying that all goes well with the surgery. Blessings always, blogging friend.

    • Chris's avatar Chris says:

      Hi Sue.

I’m glad you got to watch the video. I hope you had a good time when you were out of town.

The Second Chapter of Acts is exactly as you describe them. I have seen them interviewed on YouTube lately and they haven’t changed a bit. I’m glad you got to see them. I never did but I’ve been a big follower for some time and, as you have written, it was obvious that God was going to use them in a big way.

I really appreciate your prayers. Please thank Jim for me.

God has answered our prayers. Praise the Lord!

My wife picked me up from the hospital today.

I am a bit sore. The kidney stone has been removed and the blockage is now gone.

I am very thankful to be home. My recuperation time will be about 6 weeks and then I think I’ll be fine.

I pray that God’s will be done.

Thank you again and may God bless you and Jim!

      God’s blessings…

      Chris 😊

    How are you post surgery?

  9. Chris's avatar Chris says:

Hi Pastor Jim, and thank you for asking. I really have appreciated your prayers.

    God has heard them.

My wife picked me up at the hospital today. I am a bit sore but everything went very well. Dr. Littlejohn did an excellent job. The kidney stone got blasted and the blockage was removed. I am very thankful for the good result.

I hope all is well with you and your family.

I know you are very busy but I hope you get some rest time soon.

    God’s blessings…

    Chris

  10. Thank you for sharing this conversation, Chris. I was especially moved by the way Annie’s story shows that music can grow out of both deep vulnerability and a living relationship with the Lord. The discussion of Second Chapter of Acts also brought out how God can use ordinary, imperfect beginnings to serve a whole generation and give people courage, hope, and a language for faith. I appreciated the warmth between Annie and Dallas as much as the history they were rememberingβ€”it reminded me that ministry is not only about the songs we leave behind, but also about the faithful relationships through which God continues His work. I hope your recovery is continuing steadily.

    • Chris's avatar Chris says:

      Hi Livora.

I can see why you liked this post and you are very welcome!

Annie’s story is, indeed, very moving.

As you stated: “Music can grow out of both a deep

vulnerability and a living relationship with the Lord.”

The discussion brought out how God can use

ordinary, imperfect beginnings to serve a whole

generation and give people courage, hope, and a

      language for faith.

Annie and Dallas did exhibit a warmth between them that is rare in our days.

You also mentioned how ministry is not only about the songs, but it is also about the faithful relationships through which God continues His work.

My health is steadily improving. Thank you so much for your kind wishes!

I wish you a great week.

      God’s blessings…

      Chris

  11. I loved this conversation—especially as Annie talked about listening to God, and letting God write the song through her. I’ve heard many artists describe a similiar process. God bless you Chris! Hope you are healing well!!

    • Chris's avatar Chris says:

I’m glad you like the conversation, Katie. I have been

a fan of the Second Chapter of Acts for a long time

and Annie is one of my favorites. I enjoyed hearing

about her song writing process as well!

Thank you for you kind words, Katie.

      I am on the mend!

May God bless you as well my dear sister

      in Christ!

      God’s blessings…
