COME TO THE USA (IMMIGRANTS)

May 23, 2010

When I was a kid, I remember waiting in line for the drinking fountain.  It was the right thing to do, however, every so often a bully or self-centered kid tried to cut in line, caring nothing about others. The song linked to below takes a serious problem, Illegal Immigration, and makes some good points.  I’ve added a few points myself.

#1 When it comes to America’s immigration policy, cutting in line has been accepted for years.

#2 Why do we ignore immigration laws more than any other type of law when it has so many important ramifications?

Could it be that greedy Americans are very used to taking advantage of paying low wages to those who are willing to work for them?

#3 The worst countries kill those who don’t work.  Why does a free country expect so little in many cases?

#4 America’s illegal immigrants sometimes get “benefits” that citizens don’t.  I know this because I’ve received numerous emails from those enraged by the sad state of affairs.

#5 The government turns a blind eye to illegal immigration because of the many jobs “they” will do that “we” won’t.  Where’s the morality in that?  We could decrease our unemployment numbers if those jobs went to citizens.  The truth is, many Americans are too lazy to do the same work. How anyone can make the illegal immigrant working in the fields more of a culprit than the American leaders allowing them to do so is beyond me.

#6 What happened to the Constitution?

#7 Food stamp policies need to be refigured. The stamps are sometimes given to illegals.  I’ve taken someone (not an illegal) who gets food stamps shopping.  I know it was just one case, and I’m not complaining about my diet.  In fact, I’m continually reminded of how blessed I am and have been.  It is also a fact that I have never eaten as well as that person on food stamps is eating.  I even asked if I could come over and eat at her place when I saw the number of steaks in the shopping cart.

#8 Our immigration policies are contributing to the collapse of America’s integrity.

#9-#10  The dedication of the song is worth two good points.  It is dedicated to hard-working Americans who were born in other countries and chose to come to America the right way.  Why are hard-working Mexican citizens working on our soil?  It seems like we need to start making decisions on a case-by-case basis. Immigration laws should be followed. Until that happens, there will be no solution to this problem.

Afterward…

I received a few interesting emails about immigration while putting together this post.  Here’s one from Barbara Anable:

A Letter from Mrs. Susan Hildebrand, owner of the Shiner Ranch, to Mayor of San Antonio, Julian Castro, in response to his protest of the Arizona immigration law:

Dear Mayor Castro,

I am writing on behalf of my family and many other ranching families who live in South Texas. I listened to your opinion about the actions of the Governor of Arizona, and I respectfully disagree. We have had to deal with illegal immigrants crossing onto our land for many years, and before the drug cartels and terrorists entered the picture, it was always our policy to help these people by giving them something to eat and drink. It is something we wanted to do to help them, but now things have changed and we feel that our lives are in danger from the recklessness shown by those crossing the borders.

In the past nine months, “coyotes” have driven through our fences SIX times while attempting to escape law enforcement. Just this past week, they have crashed three stolen vehicles on the ranch and have abandoned the people who were being transported, including a 14 year old girl who was injured. (The driver had to be air lifted to San Antonio, at a cost to us tax payers.) The vehicle had been stolen from Travis county and it had to be towed. Another tax payer expense, to say nothing of what it has cost us to repair fences and pay for vet bills to pay for an injured horse. (See below.) Last summer around eleven o’clock at night, another stolen vehicle broke through our fence and managed to drive through three other fences in an attempt to escape the Border Patrol. While our men were repairing the fence so that the livestock wouldn’t get out onto the highway, the Border Patrol, Sheriffs from two towns (Pearsall & Dilley), mounted law enforcement officers (with their tracking dogs) from the Dilley Prison, a helicopter, and a wrecker were here searching for the coyote and his passengers. During the hunt, one of the prison dogs was bitten by a rattler and she died later that night, despite medical treatment. One of our working ranch horses was so frightened that he ran into a tree and cracked his skull. Meanwhile, most of the bad guys managed to elude capture. When the coyote was finally apprehended, he was found to have around $39,000 in his pockets…all taken from the people he had abandoned.

It is easy to live in a city away from the problems we are experiencing here near the border, but we would welcome you and your family to join us and see what is happening firsthand. It would be an eye-opener and it might change your mind when you criticize what the people of Arizona are doing in trying to protect their citizens. Racial profiling has nothing to do with following the laws that are supposed to be in effect concerning Illegal immigration. Personally, whenever I write a check, go for a doctor’s appointment, or break a traffic law, I am always asked for my identification. I believe it’s the same for you, too. The Border Patrol is so understaffed, and even if they do apprehend someone they have no power to hold them at gun point. Their lives are put in danger every day while our government officials sit back and offer only criticism of the job they are trying to do.

This land where we live has been in my husband’s family since 1881, and never before have we had any fear about leaving our doors unlocked, walking down a sendero, or driving through a pasture. Now we’ve had to instruct our men not to confront any strangers they come upon because we are unarmed, and they may not be. My husband and I want to leave a legacy of love for this part of God’s country to our children and grandchildren, not one of fear.

Please reconsider your stance about enforcing stricter immigration laws, and stand behind the brave men and women who protect our families, as well as your own. I appreciate the chance to give you some idea of what we are dealing with, and it is my prayer that you will support defending our borders before it is too late.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Susan Hildebrand

DOCUMENTARY FILM HIGHLIGHTS MOVEMENT OF ONE WORLD RELIGION

May 22, 2010

A young Christian researcher and film maker, Keith Thompson, has published an outstanding work on the topic of the one world religion movement.  His latest film, Aquarius: The Age of Evil, is a look inside the beliefs of One World /New Age occultists.

I am saddened that our young people have to deal with such subjects, but thankful that God has gifted young people like Keith Thompson to help his generation understand the times in which they live.

The following quote is from an interview Keith did last week:

“The global elite (that we call the New World Order) believe in certain things.   Their plan is not just political.  That’s a common misconception that people have.  They think that these elite are just in it for the money, the power, etc.  That’s not the case.  If you look at a lot of these individuals, they have very esoteric and occult beliefs. The main thrust of the New World Order is based on a concept that is known as “The New Age.”

Keith goes on to say that the New Agers believe that we are coming out of the age of Jesus (Pisces) and that we will have a new teacher in the Age of Aquarius.

“Many of these occultists say that the Age of Aquarius will be a one world utopia accompanied by a one world government and a one world ruler.  So, when you look at these New World Order people like Robert Muller, former Assistant U.N. General Secretary…they are all followers who believe that this new age is going to produce…this one world system.”

About a year ago, an acquaintance told me that I should watch the Zeitgeist “movie” on You Tube.  I did.  I found some of the information interesting.  The problem with it: Christianity is marginalized and discredited.  There’s a lot of that going on these days.

What makes Christianity unique is its risen Savior.  Anyone who wants to read about this matchless truth need only look as far as their nearest Bible and the book of Acts (Acts is directly after the four gospels).  The book of Acts describes events in the early church; after Jesus ascended into heaven.  Acts 4: 8-12 states:

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people,

9if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well,

10let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead–by this name this man stands here before you in good health.

11“He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone.

12“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

This last verse is under assault from hundreds of different directions.

We hear a great deal about a New World Order these days.  Mr. Obama used a similar term in his West Point commencement speech on Saturday.  He said: “We have to shape an international order that can meet the challenges of our generation.”

Less than a minute later he said it again: “The international order we seek is one that can resolve the challenges of our times.”  The man was talking to talented young Americans who have chosen to defend this nation and he has the nerve to talk of an international order on the day of their graduation?

Here’s the video.  KARK played the clip on the 6:00 news. You can judge for yourself the intent of the statement:

(I had a link here but it was removed because of “third party copyright infringements.”)

Mr. Obama’s statement is a sign that a one world government is coming.  There as so many other signs.

We don’t hear much about a one world religion.  As a Christian, I believe that the scriptures are clear.  A one world religion will accompany a one world government.

This is the reason that Keith Thompson’s work is timely. His documentation is flawless and his theology is Biblically sound.  The film is well worth your time.

Chris Reimers

Added on 12/12/2010:

Keith’s original intent was to upload the movie to his You tube channel so that it would be free to all.  After uploading the movie into sections, parts of it were “flagged” and removed by You tube.  Someone complained that sections of the documentary made false statements.

What was false were the allegations as all of Keith’s work was backed by documentation.  Unfortunately, this fact didn’t stop parts of the film from being “flagged” and removed.

Keith ended up selling the DVD on two different websites.

Months later, all sections are up in various places on You tube and the documentary can be seen in its entirety for free.

This is a 2 ½ hour documentary. I have read the entire text of the documentary and have sent a review to Keith.  He was appreciative of my remarks.

WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT, BUT JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING

May 21, 2010

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” —Psalm 30:5

Christian! If thou art in a night of trial, think of the morrow; cheer up thy heart with the thought of the coming of thy Lord. Be patient, for

“Lo! He comes with clouds descending.”

Be patient! The Husbandman waits until he reaps his harvest. Be patient; for you know who has said, “Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work shall be.” If you are never so wretched now, remember

“A few more rolling suns, at most,

Will land thee on fair Canaan’s coast.”

Thy head may be crowned with thorny troubles now, but it shall wear a starry crown ere long; thy hand may be filled with cares–it shall sweep the strings of the harp of heaven soon. Thy garments may be soiled with dust now; they shall be white by and by. Wait a little longer. Ah! how despicable our troubles and trials will seem when we look back upon them! Looking at them here in the prospect, they seem immense; but when we get to heaven we shall then

“With transporting joys recount,

The labours of our feet.”

Our trials will then seem light and momentary afflictions. Let us go on boldly; if the night be never so dark, the morning cometh, which is more than they can say who are shut up in the darkness of hell. Do you know what it is thus to live on the future–to live on expectation–to antedate heaven? Happy believer, to have so sure, so comforting a hope. It may be all dark now, but it will soon be light; it may be all trial now, but it will soon be all happiness. What matters it though “weeping may endure for a night”, when “joy cometh in the morning?”

IT COULD BE A LONG SUMMER

May 21, 2010

The problems in the Middle East continue.

Yes, these folks have been arguing over real and perceived rights for decades. What makes the difference now?  Why could there be war now?  One need look no further from Jerusalem than Iran.  Everyone has heard the spokesman for the fanatic Iranian leaders.  He has repeatedly said the Israel will cease to exist. Most are aware of the smuggling that’s been going on since the short summer war of 2006 in Lebanon.  Iran has not only been sending munitions to terrorists in Iraq, they have been assisting with the rearming of Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon.  Israel knows better than anyone how close Iran is to a nuclear weapon.  This fact, to me, is the “kicker.”

Those of us who believe in Bible prophecy, are of the opinion that Israel will not be driven from the land that was given to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants.   Bible predictions (prophecy) came true when, in 1948, the Jewish nation was reestablished after its people were scattered over the globe for well over two thousand years. Other predictions make it clear that God will protect the reborn country. The entire world may turn against the little free nation that is surrounded by anarchy.  It will not fall.

I have been wrong.  I thought we would have a major conflict in the Middle East last year.  The leaders of Israel have been more patient than I ever would have expected.  Now, the situation is accelerating at a pace that no Israeli leader could have thought possible.  In the past year alone, statements made in Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, and as far away as Russia and the U.S. have created a tension that the Russian President recently admitted was heightened to a dangerous degree.  He made the statement and proceeded with actions that made things worse (visiting Syria and discussing the building of a nuclear power plant there).

No Christian ever wants war.  It is a terrible thing.  The Christian, however, can’t read the Bible and deny that there will be war over Jerusalem.  In the end, the Jews will still exist, despite the wishes of many.

For those of us who believe in a Messiah that came out of the Hebrew nation, who was the perfect Lamb, who sacrificed Himself to save us all, Psalm 122 is a prayer that is on our lips as we look towards those who dwell in Jerusalem and see the pressures that they currently face.

Psalm 122

Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.
A Song of Ascents, of David.

1I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us (A)go to the house of the LORD.”
2Our feet are standing
Within your (B)gates, O Jerusalem,
3Jerusalem, that is (C)built
As a city that is (D)compact together;
4To which the tribes (E)go up, even the tribes of the LORD–
An ordinance for Israel–
To give thanks to the name of the LORD.
5For there (F)thrones were set for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
6Pray for the (G)peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who (H)love you.

7“May peace be within your (I)walls,
And prosperity within your (J)palaces.”
8For the sake of my (K)brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “(L)May peace be within you.”
9For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will (M)seek your good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTIANITY

May 20, 2010

Today is the day that the Christian Church had its beginning over 2000 years ago.  The story is told in Acts 2.  Most Christians consider it to be the “birthday” of the Church. It was on Shavuot (Pentecost) that God sent the Holy Spirit to those who believed that Jesus was the long awaited messiah.  God has impeccable timing.  The Holy Spirit was given on the anniversary of the giving of the commandments, laws from a loving God in an attempt to keep humankind from trouble.

Shavuot ends at nightfall tonight.

Here is typical sentiment about this holiday, found on a website written by a Jew:

“To my Jewish friends and readers, Chag Shavuot Sameach (a Happy Shavuot Holiday).  To everyone else, the holiday is basically, a celebration of G-d giving the Torah and the Ten Commandments to the Jewish people. On the holiday, men traditionally stay up all night, the first night, in Bible (Torah) study, and we eat dairy foods. Women can stay up all night, too, and some liberal Jewish women do.”

Happy Shavuot.  May the Spirit of Pentecost fill our lives.

AMERICA IS BROKE

May 18, 2010

As I made my way down Grand Avenue a few weeks ago, another sign was up.  It read, “Retirement Sale.”  Tommy’s, a furniture and appliance store, is another local business that is calling it quits.

Yesterday, the destination was Sears.  The brakes had to be fixed.  Surprisingly, several businesses had closed on the “happenin” side of town since the last time I’d been there.  In fairness there were a few new ones.

Why mention these observations?

It doesn’t take a financial guru to know that we’re in trouble after reading this line from an online article yesterday:

The United States’ national debt will soon reach 100 percent of gross domestic product, the International Monetary Fund predicts in a new report.

(A more recent report says that Debt held by the public is projected to rise in relation to the size of the economy each year, reaching 118 percent of GDP by 2033.)

We are not that far away from facing numbers similar to Greece, a tiny country whose financial situation caused the New York Stock Exchange to plunge 1000 points recently.

Many baby-boomers are expecting soon (and for a long time)  to collect social security benefits from a system that they have paid into for years.  One can reasonably question how the money will appear.

It looks like Bible prophecy, as I understand it, may soon be fulfilled.  The scriptures tell of a time when all buying and selling are monitored.  They speak of a time of travail.

“Do not worry about your life.”  These are the words of Jesus.  The words are mentioned here because the above information could easily cause anxiety.  The Bible also says that if you don’t work you won’t eat.  Many Americans are hard working people.  There is a growing number, however, that expect others to do their work for them.  There is another group that is willing to go deep into debt to have what their friends have.

Some  schools are now providing more than breakfast and lunch to hungry youngsters.  Dinner is also a part of the school day in some school districts.

Admittedly, many parents have lost jobs and can’t provide food for their children.  A majority of Americans used to feel unwarranted shame if their hard work wasn’t enough to put food on the table.  Today, a large portion of the culture has come to expect “help.”  Many buy things they can’t afford before thinking of paying for the “free” meals their children are getting at school.

The cost of today’s cultural attitudes is our freedom.  Nothing comes without a price.  The government will feed our kids in exchange for the ability to shut the possibility of the existence of a supreme being out of our classrooms.

Why are we broke?

We have decided, in a slow and methodical manner, to remove God from the process.  If you want to see where we’ve come from, check out the following story.  It is found within another “Wings” post.

https://chrisreimersblog.wordpress.com/2010/04/18/is-the-census-bureau-encouraging-people-to-lie-is-the-national-day-of-prayer-unconstitutional

Christian principles, practiced by those who came before us, took this nation to great heights.  Over the past 120 years or so, a growing segment of our society has decided that Christian principles are intolerant.  This view has accelerated in the last few decades.

The God who blessed this nation is someone that many don’t want to hear from anymore.

Why should anyone be surprised that we are in our situation?  We are not only broke financially.  It is much worse than that.  We are also broke spiritually, something that can only be fixed by turning back to the God that made this country great.

FIRST PRIMARIES OCCUR SINCE HIS ELECTION AND THE MYSTERY OF BARACK OBAMA CONTINUES

May 16, 2010
The president who campaigned for a more ‘open government’ and ‘full disclosure’ will not unseal his medical records, his school records, his birth records or his passport records. He will not release his Harvard records, his Columbia College records, or his Occidental College records—he will not even release his Columbia College thesis. All his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing and he claims his scheduling records during those State Senate years are lost as well. In addition, no one can find his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, Punahou School, he attended in Hawaii.”

The above quote is taken from one of thousands of similar articles that have been printed in the last 18 months.

If Barack Omaba walked into the room, I would stand.  I would stand because of my respect for the office he occupies.  His perfect record on the abortion issue and his push for so-called “progressive” ideals would make it very difficult.
It’s not Mr. Obama’s fault that America has, in my view, a leader that is taking us farther into the pit than we’ve been at any point in our history.  The people of this country voted for him despite his fight for things the Bible clearly opposes.  Many didn’t bother to vote but others voted for a man they didn’t know.  They voted for a man who consistently voted to continue the American holocaust.  Not only does he have a perfect pro-death record, he has worked hard to keep abortion a “right.”  How can God bless a nation that allows the killing of the most innocent?
Many point at Mr. Obama and say that he is the problem.  He is a representative of the problem.  A large percentage of the American population is the problem.
The American dream was once freedom.  Sometime in the last 130 years, the American dream became a title on an office door, a new car and a nice house, getting something for nothing.
We may never know what Mr. Obama’s college thesis said.  According to the article quoted above, he has spent well over $1 million to hide information about himself.  And now his Supreme Court appointee’s college thesis has been pulled from blog sites.  In place of the thesis is this statement:

PULLED AT THE REQUEST OF PRINCETON UNIVERSITY EXERCISING ITS COPYRIGHT RIGHTS

One can find a few comments from the thesis here:

http://www.independentpoliticalreport.com/2010/05/elena-kagan-wrote-senior-thesis-on-socialist-party

It would not surprise me if Ms. Kagan’s thesis never becomes available.  Why should that surprise anyone at this point?  The leader of our nation won’t make his available.

We do know that Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan, chose to write about Socialist Party history of the early 1930’s in New York City.  Her professor says that she was “the furthest thing from a socialist.” What are we supposed to believe when we hear and read stories of efforts to hide important information?  It certainly creates suspicion.

I agree with the statements that Mr. Obama made before he was elected.  Public officials should be open and transparent.  Looking at the first paragraph above, the only response I can think of is: “Will the real Barack Obama please stand up?”

6000 YEARS IN 5 MINUTES

May 16, 2010

I agree with one of the comments about this “movie.” It is impossible to understand the Middle East in 5 minutes.  However, this is a fairly accurate, though slightly irreverent, look at the history of the Hebrew people as seen in the pages of scripture.

The beginning quote surprised me.  All of those wonderful Bible verses to choose from and the creator choose a quote from Confucius.  Something out of the book of proverbs would have been more appropriate.

The title is wrong.  It is almost 5 minutes long.  Also, I usually won’t post something with language in it that I wouldn’t say myself.  There is only one example of this in the video.  I’m making an exception here because the real Goliath said worse things than the one in this cartoon.

It is cleverly done and it covers key points of Jewish and world history.

It is an amazing fact that Jesus of Nazareth, who fulfilled every word the Hebrew prophets spoke concerning their coming messiah, is not accepted as the Savior by the majority of His own people.  Yet, God hasn’t abandoned them.

“Considering that the Jewish people constitute a mere one half of one percent of the world’s population, Jewish contribution to religion, science, literature, music, medicine, finance, philosophy, entertainment etc., is staggering.”

A short list of important contributors, and the above quote, may be found here:

http://judaism.about.com/od/culture/a/contribution.htm

I don’t agree that Mr. Freud was a contributor.  My reaction to his work is, “WHAT???”  However, most on the list made great discoveries of historical significance.

There is only one word that I can think of when I look at the facts about the Jews: Miraculous.

AND NOW…MAKE YOURSELF A BOWL OF POPCORN…SIT BACK IN YOUR EASY CHAIR…AND ENJOY THE MOVIE.

HE SHALL GATHER THE LAMBS WITH HIS ARM

May 14, 2010

“He shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom.” —Isaiah 40:11

Who is he of whom such gracious words are spoken? He is THE GOOD SHEPHERD. Why doth he carry the lambs in his bosom? Because He hath a tender heart, and any weakness at once melts his heart. The sighs, the ignorance, the feebleness of the little ones of his flock draw forth his compassion. It is his office, as a faithful High Priest, to consider the weak. Besides, he purchased them with blood, they are his property: he must and will care for that which cost him so dear. Then he is responsible for each lamb, bound by covenant engagements not to lose one. Moreover, they are all a part of his glory and reward.

But how may we understand the expression, “He will carry them?” Sometimes he carries them by not permitting them to endure much trial. Providence deals tenderly with them. Often they are “carried” by being filled with an unusual degree of love, so that they bear up and stand fast. Though their knowledge may not be deep, they have great sweetness in what they do know. Frequently he “carries” them by giving them a very simple faith, which takes the promise just as it stands, and believingly runs with every trouble straight to Jesus. The simplicity of their faith gives them an unusual degree of confidence, which carries them above the world.

“He carries the lambs in his bosom.” Here is boundless affection. Would he put them in his bosom if he did not love them much? Here is tender nearness: so near are they, that they could not possibly be nearer. Here is hallowed familiarity: there are precious love passages between Christ and his weak ones. Here is perfect safety: in his bosom who can hurt them? They must hurt the Shepherd first. Here is perfect rest and sweetest comfort. Surely we are not sufficiently sensible of the infinite tenderness of Jesus!

ARKANSAS – IN JESUS’ NAME

May 14, 2010

“In Jesus’ name” – I heard it twice last night.

At a high school graduation, students opened and closed the memorable event with prayers that ended, “In Jesus’ name.”

Watching the graduates of 2010 walk across the stage and get their diplomas, I was happy about a decision made 14 years ago to move to a place only visited once.  Thankfully, my children haven’t been fed many of the “progressive” ideas that are allowed in schools in places across this nation.

A few years ago, when attending a high school football game and band performance, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven when the announcer began the game with “In Jesus’ name.”

The school will not be identified because you never know when swarming ACLU lawyers will spot another target.

Arkansas is no different than other states in some ways.  The effort to keep God out of the public square has been felt everywhere.  A court case in Little Rock in the early ’80s kept Scientific Creationism out of science classrooms.  Because of ACLU lawyers, it is not legal in Arkansas to teach that there is an “Intelligent Designer” of any kind along with evolutionary theory.  There are many scientific evidences that point to a creator, but many judges can’t or won’t distinguish evidence from “religion.”  Fortunately, the Christian faith hasn’t been, and never will be, removed from many minds in spite of its removal from the classroom.

Other articles at this site point to problems that we face locally.  Yet, You and I still have something that is disappearing in more places than we know.  We can still say a public prayer “In Jesus name.”  It is said at community and government meetings.  It is said at local club meetings.  It is said in the schools.

Arkansas may be considered near the bottom in education when compared to other states.  Other states have higher test scores. What does that matter if “in Jesus’ name” is not allowed?

After last night, my emotions are mixed.   At the same time, I am so thankful that I live in a place that hasn’t placed a mandate on “in Jesus’ name.”
