JESUS MANIFESTS HIMSELF TO HIS PEOPLE

May 12, 2010

“And will manifest myself to him.” —John 14:21

The Lord Jesus gives special revelations of himself to his people. Even if Scripture did not declare this, there are many of the children of God who could testify the truth of it from their own experience. They have had manifestations of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in a peculiar manner, such as no mere reading or hearing could afford. In the biographies of eminent saints, you will find many instances recorded in which Jesus has been pleased, in a very special manner to speak to their souls, and to unfold the wonders of his person; yea, so have their souls been steeped in happiness that they have thought themselves to be in heaven, whereas they were not there, though they were well nigh on the threshold of it–for when Jesus manifests himself to his people, it is heaven on earth; it is paradise in embryo; it is bliss begun. Especial manifestations of Christ exercise a holy influence on the believer’s heart. One effect will be humility. If a man says, “I have had such and such spiritual communications, I am a great man”, he has never had any communion with Jesus at all; for “God hath respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.” He does not need to come near them to know them, and will never give them any visits of love. Another effect will be happiness; for in God’s presence there are pleasures for evermore. Holiness will be sure to follow. A man who has no holiness has never had this manifestation. Some men profess a great deal; but we must not believe anyone unless we see that his deeds answer to what he says. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked.” He will not bestow his favours upon the wicked: for while he will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he respect an evil doer. Thus there will be three effects of nearness to Jesus–humility, happiness, and holiness. May God give them to thee, Christian!

THE BEAR IS GROWLING

May 11, 2010

Checking Russian online news sources this morning, it took awhile to find the story. I don’t look at Russian online news very often, but it’s amazing how similar they look to mainline U.S. online news sources.

Once again, the gathering of this information was made easier by Christian news sources.  The secular news doesn’t understand how important these developments are.

Surprisingly, CBS had an online story about this meeting.  Was it was seen in the print or T.V. media?  It’s doubtful.

The CBS post entitled, “Russia Seeks Bigger Mideast Role, Via Syria,” had the following quotes:

“Russian diplomats said the long-stalled Mideast peace process, Iran’s nuclear program and bilateral arms trade between the two countries were expected to be key topics for the two-day visit, the first ever to Syria by any Russian or Soviet head of state.”

“Analysts say Moscow’s influence in the Middle East will in many ways depend on its relations with Syria, an increasingly important regional player with tight ties to Iran, Hezbollah and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which has its political headquarters in Damascus.

Russia, with the European Union, the United Nations and the United States, is a member of the international quartet for Middle East peace and has long sought to expand its clout in the region.”

“Medvedev’s visit comes amid reports that he he’ll honor a deal with Damascus for the sale of an advanced anti-aircraft defense system.”

“Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has personally flown to Moscow in the hope of preventing the weapons deal, but Medvedev would only agree to a delay, unwilling to cancel the deal. The Russian leader justified the sale by saying the weapons system is a defensive one, not an offensive one.”

“Syria has insisted that the promise of an Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights be a precursor to any renewed peace negotiations between the two countries. Netanyahu has vehemently rejected the notion of a withdrawal.”

The complete article may be seen here:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/russia-seeks-bigger-mideast-role-via-syria/

Russian sources reported the following:

“”The situation in the Middle East is getting worse and an increase of tensions would be extremely dangerous,’ Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday during his visit to Syria.
“‘Any future flare-up of the Mideast situation is fraught with the danger of catastrophe,’ Medvedev said during a joint news conference with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.”

“‘I have personally emphasized that Russia will do everything possible to restore Mideast peace talks under the existing international legal base,’ he added. ‘The situation is deteriorating, becoming more complicated, and it negatively affects the general climate in the Middle East.'”

“The president said Russia was ready to make every effort and hold a Middle East peace conference in Moscow that would achieve “at least some intermediate results.”

“Syria’s main demand within the peace process is the return of the Golan Heights, occupied by Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967.”

“Al-Assad said his country was ready to negotiate on all issues as soon as the occupied territories are returned to Syria.”

“‘Syria cannot agree to a deal under which it gets back only a part of the occupied Syrian land,’ the president said.”

See the article here:

There you have it.  Neither side will make concessions on the issue of the Golan Heights.  Israel can’t be blamed.  If they were to give up the Heights, they would be giving up one of their most strategic positions.  It helps protect them from the north.  Any military man will tell you that you never give up the high ground.

This story has many implications.  It’s only a matter of time to see what comes of it.

JEWS IN THE NEWS – AND MOST OF AMERICA HAS NO CLUE

May 9, 2010

One of Yesterday’s headlines reads:

Poll: Obama has Lost Almost Half of his US Jewish Support

Less than a week ago, I wrote that I had always been surprised that 80% of Jewish Americans had voted for Barack Obama (see “comments” under RADICAL ISLAM IS ON THE MOVE). The same folks who discovered these surprising numbers now say that Mr. Obama has the support of only 4 in 10 American Jews.  What a difference in 18 months.

Here’s another headline from yesterday:

US sends Israel smart bombs to match Syrian missiles for Hizballah

Both of these headlines were found in Jewish news sources and were parroted in a few Christian websites.

Anyone who has been watching the Middle East knows that Hezbollah has been re-arming since its last confrontation with Israel in the summer of 2006.  The only difference is that now the terrorist group has more rockets.  Not only are they greater in numbers – U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has said “Hezbollah has more missiles than most governments”- they are reportedly more deadly and they have greater range.  The Israelis have been preparing for chemical attacks.

If the headline is true, if we are going to help Israel defend itself, it may change the way the Jews view Mr. Obama once again.  I’ve read story after story about the disappointment that American supporters of Israel have over certain actions or non-actions of the current American administration.

What would America do if a terrorist group were placing huge numbers of missiles in Mexico?  What if we knew they were aimed at American cities like San Diego and San Antonio and we thought that some of them may contain chemical weapons?

The answer is obvious.  Look at how our media has reacted to the intended car bombing in New York City.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is expected to visit Damascus in Syria today.  I wonder if it will get any coverage.  This is the same Damascus that the Bible predicts will suffer dire consequences some day.  Most of the missiles the terrorists in Southern Lebanon possess came through Syria compliments of the leaders of Iran.  I can’t wait to see how the Medvedev/Assad meeting goes.

Yesterday, Shimon Perez met with Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.  He was representing Israel at a ceremony recognizing the defeat of the Nazis 65 years ago.

Israel could have sent a lower level dignitary to such an event.  The real reason that President Peres went to Moscow was to, once again, hold out the olive branch to those who are bent on Israel’s destruction.

Mr. Peres, sent a message to the President of Syria, Bashar Assad, stating that Israel did not want a confrontation with Syria.

Unbelievable.  The Israelis are offering peace once again.  It doesn’t take a genius to know the results.  The Syrians and Iranians will continue to support the terrorists.

How many Americans know what you’ve just read?

How many Americans know that the Chinese President and German Chancellor were also in Moscow and met with President Peres?

The answer: very few.

I watched several mainline news programs yesterday and these events were not mentioned.

I didn’t get the local paper, but I checked the Sentinel-Record front page online.  Not there.  Was it anywhere? Page 12A?  Maybe one of you can tell me.

I checked the online issue of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.  Nothing visible enough that anyone would notice.

I googled “Medvedev meets with Peres” and several other possibilities that should have given me news about these events. A few articles about these important events came from two sources in Israel, one that is a very liberal source according to one of the readers of this blog.  The other sources were mostly Christian sources that watch the Middle East anticipating the eventual fulfillment of Biblical prophecies.

Where is the mainstream American media? They are where they normally are.  They are lost. The big story is still the attempted bombing in NYC.  Hillary Clinton talked about the “global threat” on 60 minutes last night in a story that was mostly about her. The interview with our Secretary of State followed a story about the New York City bomb scare.  The “global threat” statement she made neglected to mention Iran or Syria or Hezbollah.

Unbelievable.

Are the conspiracy theorists right?  Is the mainstream media spoon fed by elites who control what we are told?

I think there may be some truth to this because some deliverers of the message are elites themselves. However, it is not the main reason important stories don’t make the front page.

Most of those who report mainstream news do not believe what the Bible says.  To most of the mainstream media, the Bible is a collection of nice stories that attempt to teach us moral behavior.  They think it’s a book of fairy tales.

The Russian President, the Chinese President, the German Chancellor, and the Israeli President were all at the same place at the same time (Moscow) and I can’t find the news easily available anywhere in American mainline media sources.

The American media is self-absorbed.

The second biggest “global threat” is the one developing in the Middle East.  There is only one larger threat, but I can wait until next Monday to post information about it, I think.

Late breaking news – The BBC New just posted a report entitled:

First round of Mid-East indirect peace talks completed

This is the story that will probably hit the mainstream American newswires today.  George Mitchell is shuttling between representatives of Israel and the Palestinians.  I think that most people who have followed the relations between the two parties know the minute chances of something permanent coming from talks like these. – CR

THE NEW WORLD ORDER COIN

May 9, 2010

Last August (2009) I received a copy of the only magazine that I currently subscribe to and the cover had a picture of The New World Order coin.  Anyone capable of minting coins can be as creative as they please.  This coin, however, is one that represents the goal of a few elites, and it received the publicity and approval of an important world leader.

The coin was minted in Belgium, and the website for the United Future World Currency, the maker of the coin, states:

“The world in a coin. This is our vision, our hope. It is a necessity and a challenge. What seems an impossible dream becomes an inevitable historic, economic and social process. It is an event which is intertwined with the fate of human evolution.

A single currency becomes the premise for an increasingly global planet. A virtual currency capable of speaking a single, comprehensible language to foster humankind’s innate desire to go farther, to surpass boundaries, and move towards true principles of peace, freedom, brotherhood and understanding beyond issues of race, political and religious beliefs and party interests.”

HERE IS A RELATED ARTICLE and

here is a picture from the coin maker’s website, complete with caption:

Who was the world leader publicizing the coin?  If you didn’t see the headlines last July, they read:

Medvedev Shows Off Sample Coin of New ‘World Currency’ at G-8

July 10 (Bloomberg) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev illustrated his call for a supranational currency to replace the dollar by pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a “united future world currency.”

“Here it is,” Medvedev told reporters today in L’Aquila, Italy, after a summit of the Group of Eight nations. “You can see it and touch it.”

I never thought I would hear a Russian leader say such words.  And they didn’t seem to bother the other world leaders meeting at the G-8 summit either.

There are many who are not aware of this story.  Last week, Mr. Medvedev made a few comments about the New World Order in an interview.  His comments were not nearly as telling as the statement he made last July.

Part of the reason I’m posting this story now was the bump that the stock market felt last week.  It seems that a trillion dollars was lost on paper in just a few minutes.   The following financial report makes it appear that everything is fine, that all is under control.  However, it notes that changes must be made.

THE REPORT

The report says something that is not only being articulated in financial circles these days.  Remarks like these are being made in political and religious meetings.

“After such a traumatic shock to the global economic and financial systems, it is unlikely the world will return to its pre-crisis state. The failures and their fixes have altered the landscape. Thus, traditional methods of analysis may need to be modified.

By viewing economies through a different prism, investors can define ‘a new world order.'”

Ten years ago, I never thought I would hear words like these in my lifetime.  I know that President Bush Sr. mentioned the term “New World Order” several times, but few at the time took the man seriously.

I don’t know how soon there will be a one world “currency,” but the Bible tells of a time where there will be a method whereby all buying and selling will be monitored.  A Russian leader holding up a coin that indicates a willingness to join with all nations economically; it’s almost unbelievable, but it fits well with Bible prophecy.

This is where I may lose those of you who are still reading this, but I’ll take that chance.

There was a Hebrew prophet named Daniel who had a dream before 500 B.C.  It’s recorded in the Old Testament book of Daniel in chapter 7.  The dream was about a lion, a bear, and a leopard.  There are many different views of the meaning of this dream.

Many would say that relating things in a dream that’s 2500 years old to events occurring in our time is, simply, egotistical.  Because of where we are in time, we naturally have an egocentric view of things.  In this case, however, there are valid reasons to link the dream with current events.

I think that the bear in the dream represents the Russia of the modern era. I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but I think it is the best view of many given by Bible scholars.  Dr. Henry Morris, Gary Stearman, and J. R. Church are a few who think that this is a good possibility.

You can see why the above stories intrigue me.  Together with other Bible prophecies that point to a one world government, things happening in our time are fascinating.

So much for my opinion.  Write a comment and share yours.

If you want to see a short video from the folks who published the article it is no longer available and the Youtube account associated with it has been terminated along with the website of “United Future World Currency.”(Updated May/2020) It seems people with resources can create and destroy things like this in little time. I have scant doubt something akin to a one world currency will be back.

The leopard of Daniel 7?  Is it Germany?  Germany is the wealthiest power in the Eurozone and is consolidating power after “giving” a large sum to “help” others with their problems.  These two short reports are very enlightening:

GREATNESS IS FOUND IN UNUSUAL PLACES

May 9, 2010

As I have grown older, I have come to realize that you just never know.  A person that you don’t notice may have done a great deed that no one will ever recognize.  This is the nature of humility.  People who demonstrate this trait blend in.  It is because of their humility that their stories are never known.

I was drawn to this article, sent to me by Barbara Anable, because my brother was at the Air Force Academy about the same time that the story took place.  I didn’t made it to the 10 leadership lessons (included in the story below) until a second reading. On the first reading, the man tears came way before the leadership lessons. Man tears are those that don’t show much because you are a male.  For some reason, this story hit me at my core.  Maybe it’s because I know a few people like this, and they have been very inspirational to me. -CR

LESSONS IN LEADERSHIP: From a Janitor

Wharton Leadership Digest, December 2001

By Colonel James E. Moschgat,Commander of the 12th
Operations Group, 12th Flying Training Wing, Randolph
Air Force Base, Texas

William “Bill” Crawford certainly was an unimpressive figure, one you could easily overlook during a hectic day at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Mr. Crawford, as most of us referred to him back in the late 1970s, was our squadron janitor.

We cadets busied ourselves preparing for academic exams, athletic events, Saturday morning parades and room inspections, or never-ending leadership classes, Bill quietly moved about the squadron mopping and buffing floors, emptying trash cans, cleaning toilets, or just tidying up the mess 100 college-age kids can leave in a dormitory. Sadly, and for many years, few of us gave him much notice, rendering little more than a passing nod or throwing a curt, “G’morning!” in his direction as we hurried off to our daily duties.

Why? Perhaps it was because of the way he did his job-he always kept the squadron area spotlessly clean, even the toilets and showers gleamed. Frankly, he did his job so well, none of us had to notice or get involved. After all, cleaning toilets was his job, not ours. Maybe it was is physical appearance that made him disappear into the background. Bill didn’t move very quickly and, in fact, you could say he even shuffled a bit, as if he suffered from some sort of injury. His gray hair and wrinkled face made him appear ancient to a group of young cadets. And his crooked smile, well, it looked a little funny. Face it, Bill was an old man working in a young person’s world. What did he have to offer us on a personal level?

Finally, maybe it was Mr. Crawford’s personality that rendered him almost invisible to the young people around him. Bill was shy, almost painfully so. He seldom spoke to a cadet unless they addressed him first, and that didn’t happen very often. Our janitor always buried himself in his work, moving about with stooped shoulders, a quiet gait, and an averted gaze. If he noticed the hustle and bustle of cadet life around him, it was hard to tell. So, for whatever reason, Bill blended into the woodwork and became just another fixture around the squadron. The Academy, one of our nation’s premier leadership laboratories, kept us busy from dawn till dusk. And Mr. Crawford…well, he was just a janitor.

That changed one fall Saturday afternoon in 1976. I was reading a book about World War II and the tough Allied ground campaign in Italy, when I stumbled across an incredible story. On September 13, 1943, a Private William Crawford from Colorado, assigned to the 36th Infantry Division, had been involved in some bloody fighting on Hill 424 near Altavilla, Italy. The words on the page leapt out at me: “in the face of intense and overwhelming hostile fire … with no regard for personal safety … on his own initiative, Private Crawford single-handedly attacked fortified enemy positions.” It continued, “for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of life above and beyond the call of duty, the President of the United States …”

“Holy cow,” I said to my roommate, “you’re not going to believe this, but I think our janitor is a Medal of Honor winner.” We all knew Mr. Crawford was a WWII Army vet, but that didn’t keep my friend from looking at me as if I was some sort of alien being. Nonetheless, we couldn’t wait to ask Bill about the story on Monday. We met Mr. Crawford bright and early Monday and showed him the page in question from the book, anticipation and doubt in our faces. He starred at it for a few silent moments and then quietly uttered something like, “Yep, that’s me.”

Mouths agape, my roommate and I looked at one another, then at the book, and quickly back at our janitor. Almost at once we both stuttered, “Why didn’t you ever tell us about it?” He slowly replied after some thought, “That was one day in my life and it happened a long time ago.”

I guess we were all at a loss for words after that. We had to hurry off to class and Bill, well, he had chores to attend to. However, after that brief exchange, things were never again the same around our squadron. Word spread like wildfire among the cadets that we had a hero in our midst-Mr. Crawford, our janitor, had won the Medal! Cadets who had once passed by Bill with hardly a glance, now greeted him with a smile and a respectful, “Good morning, Mr. Crawford.” Those who had before left a mess for the “janitor” to clean up started taking it upon themselves to put things in order. Most cadets routinely stopped to talk to Bill throughout the day and we even began inviting him to our formal squadron functions. He’d show up dressed in a conservative dark suit and quietly talk to those who approached him, the only sign of his heroics being a simple blue, star-spangled lapel pin.

Almost overnight, Bill went from being a simple fixture in our squadron to one of our teammates. Mr. Crawford changed too, but you had to look closely to notice the difference. After that fall day in 1976, he seemed to move with more purpose, his shoulders didn’t seem to be as stooped, he met our greetings with a direct gaze and a stronger “good morning” in return, and he flashed his crooked smile more often. The squadron gleamed as always, but everyone now seemed to notice it more. Bill even got to know most of us by our first names, something that didn’t happen often at the Academy. While no one ever formally acknowledged the change, I think we became Bill’s cadets and his squadron. As often happens in life, events sweep us away from those in our past. The last time I saw Bill was on graduation day in June 1977. As I walked out of the squadron for the last time, he shook my hand and simply said, “Good luck, young man.” With that, I embarked on a career that has been truly lucky and blessed.

Mr. Crawford continued to work at the Academy and eventually retired in his native Colorado where he resides today, one of four Medal of Honor winners living in a small town.

A wise person once said, “It’s not life that’s important, but those you meet along the way that make the difference.” Bill was one who made a difference for me. While I haven’t seen Mr. Crawford in over twenty years, he’d probably be surprised to know I think of him often. Bill Crawford, our janitor, taught me many valuable, unforgettable leadership lessons. Here are ten I’d like to share with you.

1. Be Cautious of Labels. Labels you place on people may define your relationship to them and bound their potential. Sadly, and for a long time, we labeled Bill as just a janitor, but he was so much more. Therefore, be cautious of a leader who callously says, “Hey, he’s just an Airman.” Likewise, don’t tolerate the O-1, who says, “I can’t do that, I’m just a lieutenant.”

2. Everyone Deserves Respect. Because we hung the “janitor” label on Mr. Crawford, we often wrongly treated him with less respect than others around us. He deserved much more, and not just because he was a Medal of Honor winner. Bill deserved respect because he was a janitor, walked among us, and was a part of our team.

3. Courtesy Makes a Difference. Be courteous to all around you, regardless of rank or position. Military customs, as well as common courtesies, help bond a team. When our daily words to Mr. Crawford turned from perfunctory “hellos” to heartfelt greetings, his demeanor and personality outwardly changed. It made a difference for all of us.

4. Take Time to Know Your People. Life in the military is hectic, but that’s no excuse for not knowing the people you work for and with. For years a hero walked among us at the Academy and we never knew it. Who are the heroes that walk in your midst?

5. Anyone Can Be a Hero. Mr. Crawford certainly didn’t fit anyone’s standard definition of a hero. Moreover, he was just a private on the day he won his Medal. Don’t sell your people short, for any one of them may be the hero who rises to the occasion when duty calls. On the other hand, it’s easy to turn to your proven performers when the chips are down, but don’t ignore the rest of the team. Today’s rookie could and should be tomorrow’s superstar.

6. Leaders Should Be Humble. Most modern day heroes and some leaders are anything but humble, especially if you calibrate your “hero meter” on today’s athletic fields. End zone celebrations and self-aggrandizement are what we’ve come to expect from sports greats. Not Mr. Crawford-he was too busy working to celebrate his past heroics. Leaders would be well-served to do the same.

7. Life Won’t Always Hand You What You Think You Deserve. We in the military work hard and, dang it, we deserve recognition, right? However, sometimes you just have to persevere, even when accolades don’t come your way. Perhaps you weren’t nominated for junior officer or airman of the quarter as you thought you should – don’t let that stop you.

8. Don’t pursue glory; pursue excellence. Private Bill Crawford didn’t pursue glory; he did his duty and then swept floors for a living. No job is beneath a Leader. If Bill Crawford, a Medal of Honor winner, could clean latrines and smile, is there a job beneath your dignity? Think about it.

9. Pursue Excellence. No matter what task life hands you, do it well. Dr. Martin Luther King said, “If life makes you a street sweeper, be the best street sweeper you can be.” Mr. Crawford modeled that philosophy and helped make our dormitory area a home.

10. Life is a Leadership Laboratory. All too often we look to some school or PME class to teach us about leadership when, in fact, life is a leadership laboratory. Those you meet everyday will teach you enduring lessons if you just take time to stop, look and listen. I spent four years at the Air Force Academy, took dozens of classes, read hundreds of books, and met thousands of great people. I gleaned leadership skills from all of them, but one of the people I remember most is Mr. Bill Crawford and the lessons he unknowingly taught. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn.

Bill Crawford was a janitor. However, he was also a teacher, friend, role model and one great American hero. Thanks, Mr. Crawford, for some valuable leadership lessons.

Dale Pyeatt, Executive Director of the National Guard Association of Texas, comments: And now, for the “rest of the story”:

Pvt William John Crawford was a platoon scout for 3rd Platoon of Company L 1 42nd Regiment 36th Division (Texas National Guard) and won the Medal Of Honor for his actions on Hill 424, just 4 days after the invasion at Salerno.

On Hill 424, Pvt Crawford took out 3 enemy machine guns before darkness fell, halting the platoon’s advance. Pvt Crawford could not be found and was assumed dead. The request for his MOH was quickly approved. Major General Terry Allen presented the posthumous MOH to Bill Crawford’s father, George, on 11 May 1944 in Camp (now Fort) Carson, near Pueblo. Nearly two months after that, it was learned that Pvt Crawford was alive in a POW camp in Germany. During his captivity, a German guard clubbed him with his rifle. Bill overpowered him, took the rifle away, and beat the guard unconscious. A German doctor’s testimony saved him from severe punishment, perhaps death. To stay ahead of the advancing Russian army, the prisoners were marched 500 miles in 52 days in the middle of the German winter, subsisting on one potato a day. An allied tank column liberated the camp in the spring of 1945, and Pvt Crawford took his
first hot shower in 18 months on VE Day. Pvt Crawford stayed in the army before retiring as a MSG and becoming a janitor.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan officially presented the MOH to Bill Crawford.

William Crawford passed away in 2000. He is the only U.S. Army veteran and sole Medal of Honor winner to be buried in the cemetery of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

GREAT MULTITUDES FOLLOWED HIM, AND HE HEALED THEM ALL

May 7, 2010

“Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all.” —Matthew 12:15

What a mass of hideous sickness must have thrust itself under the eye of Jesus! Yet we read not that he was disgusted, but patiently waited on every case. What a singular variety of evils must have met at his feet! What sickening ulcers and putrefying sores! Yet he was ready for every new shape of the monster evil, and was victor over it in every form. Let the arrow fly from what quarter it might, he quenched its fiery power. The heat of fever, or the cold of dropsy; the lethargy of palsy, or the rage of madness; the filth of leprosy, or the darkness of ophthalmia–all knew the power of his word, and fled at his command. In every corner of the field he was triumphant over evil, and received the homage of delivered captives. He came, he saw, he conquered everywhere. It is even so this morning. Whatever my own case may be, the beloved Physician can heal me; and whatever may be the state of others whom I may remember at this moment in prayer, I may have hope in Jesus that he will be able to heal them of their sins. My child, my friend, my dearest one, I can have hope for each, for all, when I remember the healing power of my Lord; and on my own account, however severe my struggle with sins and infirmities, I may yet be of good cheer. He who on earth walked the hospitals, still dispenses his grace, and works wonders among the sons of men: let me go to him at once in right earnest.

Let me praise him, this morning, as I remember how he wrought his spiritual cures, which bring him most renown. It was by taking upon himself our sicknesses. “By his stripes we are healed.” The Church on earth is full of souls healed by our beloved Physician; and the inhabitants of heaven itself confess that “He healed them all.” Come, then, my soul, publish abroad the virtue of his grace, and let it be “to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign which shall not be cut off.”

FRANKLIN GRAHAM STANDS HIS GROUND

May 7, 2010

“I think people realize – many Christians – how we are losing our religious freedoms a little bit every day,” he said, “and if we don’t stand up and exercise the freedoms God has given us in this country, we will lose them.” -Franklin Graham, 2010 National Day of Prayer

I posted a recent commentary about the Rev. Billy Graham.  It was a difficult article to write but, after looking at several interviews that Mr. Graham did in later years, I came to the conclusion that his theology had changed.  I hope that I am wrong.  The only reason I posted such an article was to make a point about what I see happening in Christian circles nationwide.

I was happy to read this article.  It is from a very reliable source and states:

“In interview after interview, Franklin Graham has repeated his message that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, that the gospel of Christ is the only message that offers salvation, and that any belief system that leads persons away from that gospel is false and empty.”

According to this article Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son, has not wavered from his reliance on the truth of Scripture.  This gives me hope that maybe the previous article I posted was completely incorrect.

The article has the same message as the one made in my post about Mr. Graham’s father:  Christianity is under attack.

THE ACCEPTANCE OF HOMOSEXUALITY – A SAD INDICTOR OF WHERE WE ARE

May 6, 2010

__________Attached is a recent story about a preacher in England who was arrested for preaching that homosexuality is a sin.  On the day that he was taken to jail, one of the people listening to him was the “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender liason officer” for the local police department.

Some of you may be aware that I tried to contact every pastor in Garland County attempting to get them involved in signing a petition to get ACT 1 on the ballot of 2008.  Only 1 in 3 chose to get involved.  The Arkansas Family Council had done extensive work making sure that it was legal for churches to be involved in the petition drive.  The churches were informed of this fact.

The reason I spent so much of my time trying to get churches to sign petitions was because of my concern for the children being placed in foster and adoptive homes with homosexual couples.  I imagine the negative impact such an environment has on a young mind.

Of 100,000+ residents in Garland County, my guess is that 50,000 are old enough to vote and that 40,000 would call themselves Christian.  Sadly, only a little over 4,000 signatures were gathered in Garland County.  Many religious leaders, including elders and deacons in Garland County churches, turned down the opportunity to help protect young children.  IF THE CHURCHES WILL NOT PROTECT OUR KIDS, WHO WILL?

In spite of the poor showing in many counties in Arkansas by the churches, enough signatures were gathered to get ACT 1 on the ballot.  The people of Arkansas voted to approve the law 57% to 43%.

Just recently, ONE Arkansas judge ruled that the law is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.  It remains to be seen if this one judge is going to overrule the will of the entire state.

I will admit that I was SHOCKED at the lack of participation by churches in ACT 1 petitioning.  I was SHOCKED at the lackadaisical attitude about the issue.  I am sure that many church goers would gladly have signed the petition if their church leaders had given them an opportunity.

Unfortunately, many church leaders were AFRAID OF OFFENDING THOSE SITTING IN THEIR PEWS.  Why bother going to church if the Bible is not the guidepost?

The good thing that came from the 2008 petition drive was that it became obvious where the men of God were.

I would be the first to say that we are to love all sinners.  I am a sinner, a truth that becomes more evident with age.

Fortunately, there is a way to have our sins forgiven.  We must tell God we are sorry by changing our behaviors. The Bible is clear that repentance is necessary for forgiveness.  Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, “Go and sin no more.” This is true repentance.

Thus, we should love homosexuals, but not deny that their behavior is a sin.  Would we be loving them if we told them something other than the truth?

DON’T BELIEVE THAT THE JEWS ARE PLANNING ANOTHER TEMPLE? LOOK AT THIS.

May 6, 2010

I recently heard an interview with the man in charge of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem.  It’s pretty amazing stuff for those of us who believe the Bible tells us that the next Hebrew temple is inevitable. -CR

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT HOT SPRINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL?

May 4, 2010

I heard from three local residents yesterday.  One of the three doesn’t live in the Hot Springs School District, but she is very concerned with recent events occurring there.

I have written before of my concern about the “IB World Programme,” a United Nations sponsored curriculum, now being taught to “the crème of the crop” in four of the HSSD schools.  Information sent to me yesterday makes it clear that the I.B. curriculum isn’t the only problem in the Hot Springs Schools.

HSSD middle school employees are receiving training on gang violence.  Evidently, the situation is getting bad.  A former honor student is now locked in a psych facility because of panic attacks and flashbacks.  Certain thugs told this young man that “they’d get him” and they did.  Many of them laughed on March 12th as he was being strapped to an ambulance gurney shouting “leave me alone, please, please, just leave me alone.”

The young man has been diagnosed with PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder.

One citizen has stated that the bullies at the school have no respect for those in authority.  It seems that many kids who want to learn are being threatened and beaten by those who have been sent back into the school by the local courts.

My question is, “What is the Hot Springs School Board doing about this problem?”

I have taught at the Jr. High level and have taken knives from kids (IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL!).  When schools look the other way at fear and bullying going on in their hallways, the results usually spell disaster.

These reports, sadly, don’t surprise me.  How can a school that lacks the wisdom to see the intent of the I.B. “programme” deal with other issues properly?

I have seen in action the leadership of HSSD when they met with the citizens of Park Avenue regarding changes in the school located in their neighborhood.  The HSSD told concerned citizens in the Park Avenue area that they had no say when it came to the kind of school that would be put in their vicinity.

I have also heard recent reports of problems in the Park Avenue area where the HSSD told the residents there would be no ill effects resulting from moving kids who’ve had poor previous records into their neighborhood.

All of these problems have little to do with bad kids.  These problems are the result of poor adult leadership.

Local residents are asking concerned citizens who wish to find out more to attend the next HSSD school board meeting.

The meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 5:00 P.M.  That puts this month’s on the 18th.  If you plan on attending a meeting, call 624-3372 to verify time and date.  The meeting is held at the Jones Administrative building.
