ATHEISTS AND AGNOSTICS OUTPERFORM CHRISTIANS ON TEST ABOUT RELIGION

…………I read this article and took the test.  I’m no Bible scholar but I couldn’t believe how easy the questions were.  Honestly, the results of this survey do not surprise me.  From highly educated “theologians” to those who never crack a book seeking God, our nation is, in my opinion, in the worst spiritual state ever.  Basic Bible truths are being manipulated and carelessly tossed aside in favor of man’s opinion.  When atheists know more about spiritual things than Christians, we are in desperate trouble.

One stat that is telling: only 45% could name the 4 gospels.

Survey: Americans don’t know much about religion

A new survey of Americans’ knowledge of religion found that atheists, agnostics, Jews and Mormons outperformed Protestants and Roman Catholics in answering questions about major religions, while many respondents could not correctly give the most basic tenets of their own faiths.

Forty-five percent of Roman Catholics who participated in the study didn’t know that, according to church teaching, the bread and wine used in Holy Communion is not just a symbol, but becomes the body and blood of Christ.

More than half of Protestants could not identify Martin Luther as the person who inspired the Protestant Reformation.

  1. You beat me to the punch Chris. I also took the test and am saddened by its results. This pattern of folks just getting along without any real knowledge is scary. I recently had a conversation with a former Mason. He told me the ranks of these folks are very thin. He said they have changed the initiation rituals and also that a man could go from 1st degree to 32 degree in one day.
This phenomenon of no more standards is wide spread in our society. i.e. Police who won’t uphold the law, gov officials who do the same. I think it has to do with our drinking water. Too much cool-aid.

      Hi Manny,

I’m glad to hear that the ranks of the Masons are thinning. I understand this is not your point, however. I couldn’t agree more with your usage of the word “scary.”

Once the cool-aid gets in the water, it’s very difficult to remove.
