Gary Stearman recently reported on this as he lives near Oklahoma City. Like Delight, “I must refuse this invitation” to sit in Satan’s lap. The Oklahoma State Capital is the site of religious controversy. Again.
A few years ago a large statue of the Ten Commandments was placed there, and now Satanists want a piece of the action. They raised $20.000 so far in their effort to erect a statue of Satan as Baphomet, a goat-headed figure with horns, wings and a long beard. On either side of this Satan, there would be children sculpted looking up at him.
Wait, there is more.
The statue would have a functional aspect to it as well. Subjects would be able to sit in the lap of Satan for a time of prayer, contemplation or perhaps selling their soul to him. This sounds funny to most people, but this concept is a physical manifestation of the forces of darkness at work in our world.
