Oh! how should all hearts be taken with this Christ? Christians! turn your eyes upon the Lord: ‘Look, and look again unto Jesus.’ Why stand ye gazing on the toys of this world, when such a Christ is offered to you in the gospel? Can the world die for you? Can the world reconcile you to the Father? Can the world advance you to the kingdom of heaven? As Christ is all in all, so let him be the full and complete subject of our desire, and hope, and faith, and love, and joy; let him be in your thoughts the first in the morning, and the last at night.

Amen 🙌
Thanks for the devotional passage from Ambrose, Chris. Christians always have this tension with one foot still in the world and one foot in the Kingdom. May we focus on Christ more and more.
You’re welcome, Tom, and thank you for your reply. It is a very good reply. If we focus on Christ more as you have mentioned, we will likely not have our thoughts so focused on temporal things quite as much.
I like it because it is true
Nice. I find it to be a true statement as well!
Amen! Well said!
Thank you for your comment, Cathy! Amen, indeed!
Amen 🙌 A powerful call to fix our eyes on Jesus alone.
Indeed, it is Willie! Thank you for your comment!
You are very welcome…
Let us focus on and behold Christ!
Amen, Pastor Jim!
And amen!
Thanks for sharing this inspirational quote, Chris and for links to information about Isaac Ambrose. It was wonderful to read this today.
You’re welcome, Elizabeth, and I appreciate your reply and the interest in the link. It is, indeed, a wonderful quote. The theology of so many of the puritans of this era was pretty spot on as far as I can tell and it’s no wonder; they spent a lot of time studying the scriptures.
