      You’re welcome, Elizabeth, and I appreciate you letting me know that you like quotes like these. There is no question these puritans knew their Bibles very well.
      I also read the biography of Ezekiel Hopkins at the link shared. It sounds like he was a wise soul. Many of these guys have been long forgotten by most people. Mr. Hopkins, as you may have read, is still fairly well known and it is a privilege to know about him.

      I do imagine Ezekiel Hopkins to be a humble man by what I’ve read of his to this point. I liked this quote for the exact reason you have stated…It speaks to faith not as something achieved, but received. That is my view of an important part of the gospel message.
