IS AMERICA’S FINANCIAL SYSTEM FAILED AND COMING APART?

March 10, 2016

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” – Matthew 6:24

“You shall have no other gods before Me.” – Exodus 23:3

“You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.” – Exodus 20:23

Where does your security rest? Is it in the material things of this world or is it in your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ? Since the beginning of time, man has forsaken God and turned towards the idols of this world. Every case has been a disaster. Why would God’s Word change now?

I am not a modern historicist. What is that you ask? Well, Many of the reformers were and still are called historicists when it comes to their view of last days events. Because they knew the Catholic Church of their day needed reforming, they thought that the Pope was part of the “spirit of anti-Christ.” Some thought he was to be the anti-Christ. People still believe in one of these two ideas.

Modern historicists have taken it a step further. They have interpreted most of the book of Revelation as having already been fulfilled. An example would be these verses from Revelation 13:

15 “And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17 and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.”

Many Modern Historicists think this:

“The Jesuits covertly control the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the International Bank of Settlements, the Federal Reserve Bank, and Central Banks in almost every country. In their New World Order, they will control the monetary system, to dictate who buys and sells.”

In other words, they think Revelation 13 has already been fulfilled. You can see more here if you like.

Note: I Admire John Gill a great deal but I disagree with his comments on these verses. Of course, I have an advantage over Mr. Gill as I am living at a time that is closer to Jesus’ return. There are still missing many pieces that need to come into view.

I think the above verses from Revelation speak of a one world leader who will have enemies but will rule over a one world government. He will control the financial system: “he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark.”

I have never been interested in information involving money. However, in recent years I have become more interested because I think that the financial mess the world’s in may help lead to the rise of the man who is called the “man of lawlessness.”

“Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction…” – 2 Thess. 2:3

Of course, many things including an apostasy must come before this man takes power. I have heard more than one good pastor say that we may be in or are entering that time of apostasy. I don’t like date setters. If they don’t use the word “may” I won’t listen to them. However, we are much closer to Christ’s return than the great scholar John Gill was. Though dim, the picture is getting clearer. How close are we to Jesus’ return? How will it all take place? I don’t know. But I am watching as the Lord instructed us to do:

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. – Matt. 24:42

WEEKLY WRAP-UP FOR 2-27-2016

February 27, 2016

I Hope you had a chance to click on the previous post to hear other voices speak out against ungodly forces at work in Norway.

If you want to know more about this situation, click on Delight in Truth’s blog in my blogroll. At the moment, his focus is on this problem and you can learn much about it there. It is nice to see the church coming together to fight injustice.

I’ll share two things that I read this week. I hope this helps you in our upside-down world that is not the Christian’s home:

1 Why are the nations in an uproar
And the peoples devising a vain thing?

2
The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

3
“Let us tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”

4
He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them.

5
Then He will speak to them in His anger
And terrify them in His fury, saying,

6
“But as for Me, I have installed My King
Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

7
“I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord:
He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.

8
‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance,
And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.

9
‘You shall break them with a rod of iron,
You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”

10
Now therefore, O kings, show discernment;
Take warning, O judges of the earth.

11
Worship the Lord with reverence
And rejoice with trembling.

12
Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way,
For His wrath may soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

– Psalm 2

And…

1 My son, if you will receive my words
And treasure my commandments within you,

2
Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;

3
For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;

4
If you seek her as silver
And search for her as for hidden treasures;

5
Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God.

6
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

7
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

8
Guarding the paths of justice,
And He preserves the way of His godly ones.

9
Then you will discern righteousness and justice
And equity and every good course.

10
For wisdom will enter your heart
And knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

11
Discretion will guard you,
Understanding will watch over you,

12
To deliver you from the way of evil,
From the man who speaks perverse things;

13
From those who leave the paths of uprightness
To walk in the ways of darkness;

14
Who delight in doing evil
And rejoice in the perversity of evil;

15
Whose paths are crooked,
And who are devious in their ways;

16
To deliver you from the strange woman,
From the adulteress who flatters with her words;

17
That leaves the companion of her youth
And forgets the covenant of her God;

18
For her house sinks down to death
And her tracks lead to the dead;

19
None who go to her return again,
Nor do they reach the paths of life.

20
So you will walk in the way of good men
And keep to the paths of the righteous.

21
For the upright will live in the land
And the blameless will remain in it;

22
But the wicked will be cut off from the land
And the treacherous will be uprooted from it.

-Proverbs 2

WEEKLY WRAP-UP 2-20-2016

February 20, 2016

A major story that has been underreported in the West is one that is being covered on Delight in Truth’s Blog.

Barnevernet Sinking Despite the Progressive Romanian Defenders

There is so much going on that I can’t keep up with it. On the job front, I’ve enjoyed being with the kids lately. Unfortunately, I’ve had to send more than one student to the office recently because they lied to me. Hmm…wonder where they learned to look you straight in the eyes and lie to you? This week I had a mixture of jobs; everywhere from third grade to high school. Kids are still kids in spite of the spiritual meltdown happening all around them. You probably are aware of the reading materials that these kids read on their own time. This is something I can’t control. A student walked up to me and shared a “bloody” incident in a book that she was reading. I read it and said, “Gross!!!” I didn’t have time to express my concerns to her until the next day. It’s kind of rare for me to be in the same place two days in a row, but in this case I was very thankful.

I will miss Justice Scalia. His statements about allowing “same-sex” marriage were scathing. I don’t know how many times he was critical of the current Court and its unconstitutional views. I think the court will continue to become more Godless. I hope I’m wrong.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend in the Lord.

ARKANSAS STATE SUPREME COURT STOPS SAME SEX MARRIAGE…FOR NOW

May 16, 2014

According to Reuters, The Arkansas Supreme Court on Friday halted the issuing of marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

The Supreme Court issued the stay in a brief, unsigned order, without elaborating on its reasoning.

You may see the source HERE.

I am surprised and very pleased by the decision. This is not the last we’ve heard on this issue but, for now, Arkansas is doing the right thing.

GAY MARRIAGE IN ARKANSAS?

May 11, 2014

UPDATE: 3/7/2016

All of you know by now that this story is very outdated in such a short period. Five of Nine judges decided this issue for the entire country. This will turn out to be the final straw to break the USA’s back. All of our other problems will stem from the “Big Three” that have occurred since 1962. Of course, our fall started as a ripple long ago. Now, we are facing a tidal wave.

CR

“A county judge in Arkansas struck down his state’s constitutional bans on gay marriage, saying in a ruling Friday night that they did not advance “any conceivable legitimate state interest.”

“In finding the ban unconstitutional, Pulaski County Circuit Judge Christopher Piazza cited the series of federal court rulings, including those in Utah and Virginia, that have been issued since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down portions of the federal Defense of Marriage Act. That landmark ruling has led to a spate of lawsuits in about a dozen states seeking to topple bans on same-sex marriage.

“Same-sex couples are a morally disliked minority and the constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages is driven by animus rather than a rational basis,” Piazza wrote. “This violates the United States Constitution.”

“The judge did not issue a stay, meaning same-sex marriages could begin as soon as county clerks next open their doors. However, Arkansas Atty. Gen. Dustin McDaniel plans to ask for a stay and immediately appeal to the Arkansas Supreme Court, which has initial jurisdiction on all county circuit appeals.

“We respect the court’s decision, but, in keeping with the attorney general’s obligation to defend the state constitution, we will appeal,” spokesman Aaron Sadler said. “We will request that Judge Piazza issue a stay of his ruling so as not to create confusion or uncertainty about the law while the Supreme Court considers the matter.”

“Piazza’s ruling stems from a lawsuit filed by 12 same-sex couples who sought to wed in Arkansas and eight same-sex couples who had legally married in other states. They had been barred from either receiving marriage licenses or having their marriages recognized because of a 1997 law approved by lawmakers and a 2004 voter-approved amendment to the state constitution.”

This is a portion of a story that you can read HERE.

So…what has happened? Putting a couple of new sources together, I’m still trying to understand it all.

Last Friday, Arkansas’ Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza made a ruling that removed a 10-year-old constitutional amendment overwhelmingly passed by voters in 2004 banning gay marriage. His ruling also overturned a 1997 state law banning gay marriage. The results: 15 couples were issued same-sex marriage licenses yesterday in northwest Arkansas.

One judge opened a can of worms. Since he didn’t issue a stay, Arkansas’ 75 county clerks were left to decide for themselves whether to grant marriage licenses.

This ruling comes about a week after Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel became the first statewide official in Arkansas to back same-sex marriage. He said that he supported allowing same-sex couples to wed. At the same time he stated that he will continue defending his state’s 2004 ban on gay marriages in court.

What a mess. So, the State’s Attorney General will have to fight the judge’s decision although he agrees with it.

“They” (those who are trying to override the will of the people) really timed this whole thing well…FOR THEM. A single judge commits judicial tyranny on Friday and marriage licenses are granted the next day before those who are supposed to uphold the state constitution have an opportunity to stop it before it’s out of the box. Those who are familiar with Arkansas news know that the story will not really get any traction until Monday. The only matter local Arkansas channels stay on top of on weekends is dangerous weather.

This story is still developing and I intend to stay on top of it here. I have no confidence in our state Supreme Court. If the matter winds up there, we are surely in trouble. My assessment is based on the 2008 7-0 decision, overruling the will of the people, to allow homosexuals to foster and adopt children.

The “weather” is becoming very dangerous in Arkansas.

Quick update: It’s Monday morning in Arkansas and they were discussing this issue on the morning news. At this point, I seem to have my facts straight.

EVANGELICAL DECLARATION ON GLOBAL WARMING

March 30, 2014

PREAMBLE

As governments consider policies to fight alleged man-made global warming, evangelical leaders have a responsibility to be well informed, and then to speak out. A Renewed Call to Truth, Prudence, and Protection of the Poor: An Evangelical Examination of the Theology, Science, and Economics of Global Warming demonstrates that many of these proposed policies would destroy jobs and impose trillions of dollars in costs to achieve no net benefits. They could be implemented only by enormous and dangerous expansion of government control over private life. Worst of all, by raising energy prices and hindering economic development, they would slow or stop the rise of the world’s poor out of poverty and so condemn millions to premature death.

I found this Declaration at Dr. E. Calvin Beisner’s CORNWALL ALLIANCE WEBSITE.

YOU CAN SEE THE REST OF THE DECLARTION ON GLOBAL WARMING HERE

I have endorsed this Declaration. The Cornwall Alliance, in my opinion, is the best source of information on this topic from a Christian perspective. I am not posting this for endorsements or financial support. I am posting this because there is a lack of education within Christian circles on this subject.

It’s so interesting where God leads His people. I remember a young Mr. Beisner sitting next to Walter Martin and defending the great truths of the Bible. He was very young back then. He was brilliant then and, again in my opinion, he hasn’t changed and is doing very important work.

Tomorrow I will put up a post about the new movie “Noah.” It comes from the Cornwall Alliance.

THE FRUIT FLY

March 26, 2014

By Jeffrey Tomkins, Ph.D. *

The humble fruit fly that has been at the heart of genetic studies for nearly 100 years continues to amaze scientists and defy simplistic evolutionary predictions. A research team recently evaluated the diversity of gene expression across the insect’s genome in much greater detail than previous studies, and the results revealed incredible complexity and design.1

One of the key features that is emerging across the spectrum of research in plant and animal genomes is the fact that nearly all DNA is expressed (copied into RNA).2 This expressed RNA makes up what is called the transcriptome. The different types of RNA molecules that are produced can be placed in a wide variety of functional categories that include noncoding RNAs (short and long) and protein-coding RNAs. The various noncoding RNA molecules greatly outnumber the protein-coding segments. Noncoding RNA regions of the genome act like an overlying informational system controlling the usage of protein-coding areas.

In this new study published in the journal Nature, the authors captured and analyzed the expressed RNA from many different fruit fly tissues using advanced sequencing technology.1 The researchers discovered more than 1,200 new genes that were previously unknown. These results show that even in well-studied, small-size genomes, much still remains to be understood and cataloged.

Another amazing discovery was the dramatic prevalence of overlapping genes encoded in two different directions. DNA is a double-stranded molecule and genes are found on both strands (running in opposite directions) with segments that can overlap each other. One strand may contain a protein-coding gene, while the other strand may encode what are labeled as antisense RNAs.3 These antisense RNAs help regulate their forward-sense protein-coding counterparts and appear to play a major role in controlling gene expression in the fruit fly genome at much higher levels than previously anticipated.

Another finding was that alternative splicing is considerably more complex and common than previously known. Both protein-coding and noncoding RNA genes contain regions called exons and introns. After a gene is copied into an RNA transcript, the introns are often spliced out and the exons are spliced together. In many genes, the exons are alternatively spliced to form variable and diverse gene products. In humans, it has been estimated that about 95 percent of genes are alternatively spliced.4,5 In fruit flies, alternative splicing was found to play a major role specifically in gene regulation during both the development and functioning of neural cells.

Much of the unexpected complexity in the fly transcriptome is due to many newly characterized control features that not only regulate gene function but also alter the RNA transcript after it is made. The authors of the study stated, “The fly transcriptome is substantially more complex than previously recognized, with this complexity arising from combinatorial usage of promoters, splice sites and polyadenylation sites.”1

Even what was originally thought to be a simple animal genome continues to startle scientists with its incredible complexity. The more we discover about the genome, the more we realize that biocomplexity is much greater than ever imagined. While evolution does not predict this, a creationist view of an infinitely wise and omnipotent Creator does.

MARIJUANA IN ARKANSAS? A 2016 UPDATE…

February 4, 2014

Election Results November 2016

“The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, also known as Issue 6, is an amendment to Arkansas’ state constitution that officially legalizes the distribution and possession of medical marijuana.”

HERE IS ONE OF MANY ARTICLES YOU CAN FIND ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE NEW LAW.

2016 UPDATE:

The Arkansas Hemp and Marijuana Legalization Amendment may appear on a 2016 ballot in Arkansas as an initiated constitutional amendment. One may see the legislation by going to THIS LINK.

When I know more, I will try and keep this post current.

CR

———————————————————–

I posted the entire article because I had problem with THIS LINK.

Richard Morton, head of the Arkansas TeaPot Party, is asking state lawmakers to legalize marijuana when the legislature convenes for its 2014 budget session.

Morton, of Shirley, is proposing the Willie Nelson Act, a law that would totally legalize marijuana in all forms. In addition, the law would release anyone from jail who is there on a nonviolent marijuana conviction. Since his law would allow the state to tax the marijuana, he believes it is an appropriate measure for lawmakers to consider during the budget session.

In previous legislative sessions, lawmakers have avoided introducing even limited marijuana measures, so it is unlikely that such a far-reaching measure would have any support among Arkansas lawmakers. And let’s not forget no matter what law a state legislature passes, marijuana is still 100% illegal to grow, sell, or possess under federal law.

More than half a dozen efforts are underway to make marijuana legal in Arkansas. This latest effort shows us where things are headed. Morton and the TeaPot Party are on the fast track. The “medical” marijuana folks are on a slower track, but they all end up at the same place—total legalization of marijuana. The states of Colorado and Washington legalized marijuana for “medical” purposes a few years ago. The drug got so out of control there that they finally threw in the towel and made it totally legal.

While Morton’s “Willie Nelson” law would be the most wide-open marijuana law in the country, at least his intentions are out in the open. Backers of other efforts to legalize marijuana in Arkansas seem to share Morton’s view, but veil their marijuana proposals behind a “medical” smoke screen of helping the sick and dying.

Posted By Jerry on 02/03/2014 | Filed under: Marijuana

My comment:

HERE and HERE are articles that give reasons to, like Jerry and I, fight against recreational marijuana usage.

The third article states that: “This implies, but does not establish, that smoking marijuana may lead to some of the same results as smoking cigarettes. It is notable that several reports indicate an unexpectedly large proportion of marijuana users among cases of lung cancer and cancers of the oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx. Thus, it appears that the use of marijuana as a medicine has the potential to further harm an already ill patient in the same way that taking up regular cigarette smoking would, particularly in light of the fact that those patients for whom marijuana is recommended are already poorly equipped to fight off these infections and diseases.”

The second source listed is from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). It also states that the results of medical marijuana are far from conclusive:

Is Marijuana Medicine?

Many have called for the legalization of marijuana to treat conditions including pain and nausea caused by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other conditions, but clinical evidence has not shown that the therapeutic benefits of the marijuana plant outweigh its health risks. To be considered a legitimate medicine by the FDA, a substance must have well-defined and measurable ingredients that are consistent from one unit (such as a pill or injection) to the next. As the marijuana plant contains hundreds of chemical compounds that may have different effects and that vary from plant to plant, and because the plant is typically ingested via smoking, its use as a medicine is difficult to evaluate.”

The fourth source is from a former marijuana smoker. It states:

“As a recovering drug addict, I’ve known lots of other addicts in my life. What most of them have in common is that they started off with alcohol and cigarettes, then marijuana, before they moved on to harder drugs.”

These are all good sources, but the last one is from someone who has been there and done that.

From a spiritual standpoint, God’s Word says that our bodies are His temple. After reading these four articles and from personal experience of those I know who use(d) marijuana recreationally, I could never support the legalization of the drug.
