It’s Rated R For A Reason
April 2, 2013Mrs. Acuna shares some good resources that you need to look at before you take your kids to the movies.
Last week when we were discussing spring break plans, Amelia said she wanted to see the new Selena Gomez movie. When I pointed out that it was rated R, she said that wasn’t a problem: “My mom will take me.”
I looked up the movie on IMDB.com and read the Parent Guide notes aloud. After hearing several descriptions of drug use, nudity, and sexual situations, Amelia looked alarmed. “I didn’t know all that was in there,” she said. “I just thought the previews looked funny!”
The MPAA ratings may have their flaws, but they do serve a purpose, when parents heed them. Had Amelia’s mom taken her to see the film without doing some checking first, it could’ve been uncomfortable and awkward for everyone. THE SHROUD
March 30, 2013I have always been fascinated by the Shroud of Turin. Is it a picture of our crucified Lord? Many think so. There is so much evidence that it is hard to view it otherwise. Here is a video about the blood on the Shroud. It would take a master forger to fake that.
I also think the Shroud is genuine. Though some would disagree, the facts seem to verify the veracity of the image. Whether it is the real thing or not, it should cause many to pause and wonder: “Is this the face of the Savior of mankind?”

WHO CAN LOOSE THE BANDS OF ORION?
March 22, 2013“Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?” —Job 38:31
If inclined to boast of our abilities, the grandeur of nature may soon show us how puny we are. We cannot move the least of all the twinkling stars, or quench so much as one of the beams of the morning. We speak of power, but the heavens laugh us to scorn. When the Pleiades shine forth in spring with vernal joy we cannot restrain their influences, and when Orion reigns aloft, and the year is bound in winter’s fetters, we cannot relax the icy bands. The seasons revolve according to the divine appointment, neither can the whole race of men effect a change therein. Lord, what is man?
In the spiritual, as in the natural world, man’s power is limited on all hands. When the Holy Spirit sheds abroad his delights in the soul, none can disturb; all the cunning and malice of men are ineffectual to stay the genial quickening power of the Comforter. When he deigns to visit a church and revive it, the most inveterate enemies cannot resist the good work; they may ridicule it, but they can no more restrain it than they can push back the spring when the Pleiades rule the hour. God wills it, and so it must be. On the other hand, if the Lord in sovereignty, or in justice, bind up a man so that he is in soul bondage, who can give him liberty? WHAT TO WEAR?

It is July 15th, 2023. Wow, did I mess up!!! My name is Chris Reimers and I am the author of this post and I am deeply sorry to anyone who read the original post here and missed the comments. I ask your forgiveness (even though it is way too late for any who have read this post in the past and are long gone because of it).
In the original post (noted below) I only quoted a verse from the law (stated in the Old Testament) and completely neglected the gospel found in the New Testament. It was one of the worst things I have ever done on this blog and I am truly sorry. I am including the comments that were also in the original post (at the bottom below) so that anyone who reads this now sees what my true intentions were 10 years ago when the post was originally written. At least, I hope they were my intentions. I don’t remember my intentions to be honest so, to be on the safe side, I am including what I feel is a much needed apology. How many read this post and didn’t read the comments? Again, I am truly sorry that this post was not more balanced.
Here is what the New Testament states:
“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.” -1 Timothy 2
God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. This, of course, includes the person in the picture above and anyone else.
Again, I am sorry for how this post looked originally but I am a work in progress like everyone else and I make mistakes but not usually to this degree.
May God have mercy on me and on everyone reading this post. I repent to Him and ask for forgiveness to any who have seen this post without this addition.
I am currently going through this entire blog to correct any similar errors.

So very sad and tragic. Our Lord sees this day after day, year after year and still stands with open arms. He alone knows the stranglehold of rebellion, stubbornness that rules in the heart of man in his lost state.This picture shows a man trying to put forth the softness of a woman and disregard God’s gift of manhood which he despises due to the perversion he allows to rule his life. All the while a Savior stands ready to forgive, heal and set free. So very sad.

It was difficult to put this picture up because it is difficult for me to look at it. Unfortunately, the numbers of men like this one are on the rise. I’ll never forget the picture I saw of a young boy of about 12 or so walking in a gay parade with nothing on but his underwear. Our youth are becoming more active in this type of lifestyle.May God have mercy on us.

ESCHATOLOGY WARS
March 18, 2013The word “Eschatology” is from the Greek ἔσχατος/ἐσχάτη/ἔσχατον, eschatos/eschatē/eschaton meaning “last” and -logy meaning “the study of”, first used in English around 1550[1]. It is the part of theology, physics, philosophy, and futurology concerned with what are believed to be the final events of history, the ultimate destiny of humanity — commonly referred to as the “end of the world” or “end times.”(1)
Anyone who reads this blog knows that I have an interest in eschatology. There are many different views about “the end of the world.” I recently ran across an article that perked my interest. It was reprinted in a blog that I respect for helping me understand many of the crazy things some of our “churches” are teaching today.
The blog is called Appraising Ministries and its creator is Pastor Ken Silva.
The title of the article is THE RISE OF APOCALYPITIC PAGANISM IN THE CHURCH: BIBLE PROPHECY IN CRISIS. The original is found in a publication named Herescope. The article criticizes another pastor whom I respect: Gary Stearman.
I respect Pastor Stearman because of his great knowledge and because of his support of the nation of Israel. He believes that Israel is “God’s Timepiece” and I’m inclined to agree with him.
The Herescope article contends that Gary Stearman and many of his guests rely upon ancient apocryphal literature that is corrupted. The example given is Gary’s observations of the Book of Enoch.
I have a copy of the Book of Enoch, but I have never read it. I am not a scholar on the subject so I would have to do some studying before I ever made a conclusion about who is closer to the truth on apocryphal lit.
I have posted things from Pastor Silva and I have posted items from Pastor Stearman. I think they both have their good points and bad points just like I do. I went back and reviewed most of the posts I put up from Prophecy in the News (Gary is the Editor). Israel is the subject of most of the podcasts I have posted. I don’t think there are any posts of interviews with people listed in the Herescope article. I may be wrong.
The men mentioned in the Herescope article are Doug Woodward, Tom Horn, L.A. Marzulli, and Doug Hamp. I have seen Pastor Stearman interview all of these guys. Do I agree with everything these guys are saying? Of course not. I can’t recall the topic, but an interview with Mr. Hamp was particularly off. Much of the literature written by these authors is advertised in the Prophecy in the News monthly magazine, which I receive.
Gary Stearman wrote a very good article in the March’s Prophecy in the News magazine entitled “The Mind of Christ.” I agree with Gary’s assessment that there will not be another Major revival until after the rapture.
So, do we throw the baby out with the bath water? (Gary is anything but a baby; he is brilliant.)
It is true that many of the books advertised by Prophecy in the News are questionable. At the same time, I have read many thought-provoking articles by Pastor Stearman.
I could go on about other issues where I don’t know if I agree with the Prophecy in the News folks. There is the idea that certain years line up with certain Psalms. There is the Dispensational view. Gary and most of this persuasion think there will be 7 time periods or Dispensations throughout history. Dr. Charles Ryrie, whose name is on The Ryrie Study Bible, agrees with Dispensationalism but after listening to an interview with him I’m not sure how many Dispensations he believes in.
I could also find areas where Mr. Silva and I differ. I’m not quite as Calvinist as he is.
So who is right? I know that this article is all over the place but I do have a few conclusions:
I like Gary Stearman. I like Ken Silva. I like Charles Ryrie. I think they are all saved. None of them are always right and none are always wrong. I look in the mirror and see someone just like them except less knowledgeable.
Dr. Mark Cain of Village Bible Church says: “Some hills are worth dying on and some aren’t.”
When prophetic speculation reaches the level of paganism, then it is serious. However, just because someone is wrong doesn’t make them pagan. I would fit the definition in that case.
I’m not saying that “we should all just get along.” I’m saying that the discussion should be civil. Thus far, I have never seen Gary Stearman act otherwise.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY ISRAEL!!!
April 15, 2013This evening the celebration of Yom Ha’atzmaut commences. The observation of the establishment of the modern state of Israel on May 14th, 1948 begins on the eve of April 15th (it is probably being remembered as I write this) and ends tomorrow night (the 16th).
What do people do on this holiday? You can read about some of the things they do here.
I would like to wish all of my Jewish friends a happy holiday. What happened in May of 1948 was a miracle. I know it is difficult for Israel to rejoice too much this year with enemies who wish to see their destruction surrounding them. As God has done in the past, He will protect the tiny little nation in the future.
Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
