EVER HEARD OF THE BURNING MAN GATHERING?

September 7, 2013

I found this story at a blog that I recently became aware of.  It is called “M’Kayla’s korner” and has some very interesting articles, like this one, there.  I am putting her blog on my blogroll if you would like to check it out.

This is one very strange event:

‘Burning Man’ Draws 68,000 To America’s Largest Pagan Cult Gathering

My comment:

The New Age movement is alive and well and moving into the churches at an alarming rate.  Check out your church’s statement of faith.  Make sure that it coincides with the truth of God’s Word.  Unfortunately, solid Bible teaching is getting harder to find.  Seek and ye shall find.

DAMASCUS A RUINOUS HEAP?

September 6, 2013

What about Damascus?  Right now very interesting things are happening in Syria.  You would have to be deaf not to have at least heard a bit about it.

https://chrisreimersblog.com/2012/11/28/the-future-of-damascus/

And Just yesterday:

Isaiah 17:1

King James Version (KJV)

17 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

My thoughts:

I believe this is a prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled.  It’s like the prophecies concerning the rapture.  We look for signs but we don’t know when these prophecies will come to pass.  Either could happen tonight. Either could happen in 100 years or more.  It is very possible the prophecy that Isaiah spoke of in 17:1 could happen very soon.  What will God use to destroy Damascus?  It could be an earthquake, a nuclear event, bombing from a regional war, or even a supernatural event that is without explanation.  There are many possibilities.

I continue to watch Israel because I believe that the little nation, created by a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is God’s timepiece.

MAYWAGE

August 29, 2013

I know this is a very serious subject.  But I can’t refrain from sharing this humorous part of a movie called “The Princess Bride” that deals with marriage.  “Buttercup” is being forced to marry “Prince Humperdink.”  The priest doing the ceremony is quite the character.  What he says is actually good.  It’s the way he says it that, if you are in a mood, may get a giggle out of you.  We could all use a good laugh these days.

Why a post about marriage?  Well, today is my 32nd wedding anniversary.  Have you read Proverbs 31?  It describes a Godly wife.  Somehow, 32 years ago, a 22-year-old-know-little married a young lady similar to the one described in Proverbs 31.  I have been very blessed.

There are mixed feelings.  As I checked Flickr for a good photo to accompany this post, sadly many were of homosexuals getting “married.”  The fact that almost every decent picture was copy written tells me that marriage is still important to some.  I had to take my own picture.

You don’t need me to tell you that we live in contradictory times.  We have some of the best health care the world has ever known, yet we kill the unborn.  We are supposedly evolving into something better, at the same time, all appearances make it look like we are as we have always been: sinners.  Advances in technology screeeeeeem forward.   Ethical standards lurrrrrrrrrrrrrch backward.  There is a scripture that makes me think we are nearing the second coming of our Lord.

It is:

Daniel 12:4

“But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”

I received an email from a friend of my wife wishing us a happy anniversary.  She is one of many of my friends who thinks Jesus may return in our lifetime.  I thought He would be here long ago.  If He does, praise be to God.  If not, I’ll be content to spend the rest of my days with one of the greatest blessings of my life.

HELLO HOT SPRINGS! I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN YOU.

August 15, 2013

It is time, once again, to get involved in local “politics.”  I was at a recent Watchmen of Garland County meeting and the subject was Oaklawn.  Oaklawn is the local racetrack and casino.  It appears that $40 million a month is not enough.  At least that’s the number that I heard from a friend who knows quite a bit about what Oaklawn takes in.  There is word in the air that another expansion is in the works.  I don’t know how large the plans are, but one more “machine of skill” (That’s a short phrase that some of those who benefit from the casino use.) is too much for me.

The plan is to show up at the City Board meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd, and voice our views on any expansion.  I have already requested FOI information and plan to share it at the meeting unless there are so many who have had their lives ruined by a gambling problem willing to speak that time runs out.

I’ve always viewed gambling as nothing more than a poor tax.  From a Christian viewpoint, the Bible speaks of being content with what one has.

Admittedly, I am not an angel when it comes to gambling.  I’ve gambled thrice, that I can remember in the last 30 years.  A boss of mine taunted me to gamble, knowing he would lose, just to see if I would gamble.  I finally relented and won $20 (I think).  He was so unhappy that I took him up on it that he paid me in pennies.  I turned around and bet another employee about something that I knew I would lose and he ended up with the tainted gambling money.  Another time, on a work related outing, I was given money to gamble.  I ended up winning at a black jack table.  I felt so bad I’ll never set foot in another casino as long as I live if I can help it.

If you live in or near Hot Springs, I hope you show up at the meeting on September 3rd.  Even if you don’t like to speak in front of people, it would be nice to fill the room with concerned citizens.

The photo above is not suggesting that Oaklawn allows children to gamble.  My point is that many children are affected adversely by the gambling industry.  There are many Dads who wind up like the guy below because there are casinos in town.

HERE is a link to an article about gambling sent to me by my friend, Kassey.

The article by Science Digest finishes with this statement:

The authors conclude: “Our findings indicate that there is a relationship between age and pathological gambling: the older the patient, the more gambling-related problems the patient has. Intervention during early manifestations of the complex problem that is pathological gambling is essential for successful treatment planning.”

Kassey writes a blog called “Ponder Anew.”

THE BLACK AWAKENING

August 3, 2013

I am not trying to sell books here.  But, I think this is an interesting video.

There is no question that Satan is alive and and actively trying to turn lives into chaos.  I haven’t posted much of Gary lately because of the prophecy conference that was recently sponsored by Prophecy in the News.  Several of the lecturers there were folks that are too on the fringe for me.

This is not a topic that I wish to discuss, but I think it is necessary in the day we live in to be familiar with some “dark side” events.  The verses of Ephesians 6 are important for our time:

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

A question is raised in the video: “Are we ready for what may happen in the near future?”  This question is not raised to frighten.  It is clear in the discussion that Christians have nothing to fear.  However, I think we could all be a bit better prepared for what may happen shortly.

UNGODLY HHS WEBSITE

June 10, 2013

How about “commiseration” instead of “administration?”   That’s the word I feel for any youngster who ends up perusing this website. This is where you can see the taxpayer-funded site.  Lots of awards have been given to the HHS “tool.”  It kind of reminds me of this award. This article will tell you some of the ungodly stuff you’ll find on the website just in case you don’t want to have to search it yourself.

I must continue to ask: “How can God bless a nation that has turned its back on Him?”

YES, THERE IS STILL PRAYER IN SCHOOL

May 23, 2013

In 1962, over 50 years ago, the Supreme Court of the United States of America, decided it was a good thing to take prayer out of the nation’s schools.

Look at the results. They have been catastrophic.

Growing up in California, I entered school in 1963. I never heard a Christian prayer in school. It was a great place to grow up, but thankfully California is no longer my place of residence.

Not all schools have thrown Christian prayers to the wind.

This is a prayer that will be spoken tonight, at a public high school graduation, here in America:

“Dear Heavenly Father,

“We are grateful that You have allowed us to come together tonight in this final celebration of our friendship and achievements.  We thank You for our families, teachers and friends who have encouraged, guided, and given of themselves so that we might be here this evening. We pray that You would send Your blessings upon them.

“Throughout the school years, You have been with us, protecting us, providing for our needs, and directing our paths.  You have brought us through experiences, some good and some, not so much, that have helped us mature and grow.  Help us to continue to see Your hand in our lives.

“During this transition from high school student to adult, we will experience many changes.  Let us rely more and more upon Your Word, which never changes.  Grant us courage to face new challenges and overcome obstacles in order to achieve our goals.  Forever (name of school mascot), let us remember the words of Isaiah: ‘Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they run and will not grow weary, they walk and not be faint.’

“We pray for Your blessing upon this graduation ceremony and all of the people here tonight.  In the name of Your holy Son Jesus Christ, Amen.”

How do I know that this prayer will be spoken, tonight, at a high school graduation in America?  I know because I am blessed to have a son who wrote the prayer himself and who is happy to say it.

I can think of nothing else to write except, “God bless America.”

THE NEW CPR

May 13, 2013

I would like to thank my friend, Bobbie Morningstar, for sending this information out in an email.  Though most of the posts on this blog deal with the soul, we are to emulate the Good Samaritan and try to help others when we are able.  This is so much simpler than what I’ve been taught in the past.  One never knows when one may be in a position to be used of God to extend a person’s life.

God’s blessings…

THE NEXT BIG LIE

April 6, 2013

“This riveting TV advertisement, produced and directed by ARTL’s founding vice president Steve Curtis, demonstrates one of the great dangers of Plan B in that it even further destroys the boundary of protection that naturally surrounds women and young girls. Of course the greatest danger of the ‘Morning After Pill’ is that it is designed to kill a child, whether son or daughter.”

This quote may be seen here.

Many of you are aware that one judge made one ruling that may lead to the plan b pill being sold over the counter.  It is a tragic sign of the times in which we live.

HE HAS RISEN

March 30, 2013

“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.  And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.  While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing;  and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?  He is not here, but He has risen.  Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”  And they remembered His words, and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.  – Luke 24:1-9
