The Sensual Invasion

March 16, 2014

My friend Sherryn of The Narrowing Path found this article at another blog I follow called Floating on Tiptoes. I have been listening to contemporary “Christian” music for over 40 years. To be honest, I know none of the “new” artists. I’m sure there are some good ones but it all sounds the same to me. Much of the time I can’t understand what is being said. Am I getting old or is there a reason when I hum these days it’s hymns from the old hymnbook at my church filled with words based on Biblical truth. I hope you read this article. There are many strange things happening in “Christian” churches these days.

The other day, I heard a beautiful worship song.  It was penned by a brilliant songwriter, known the world over.  It displayed the poignancy that brilliant songwriting does, that seemingly casual ability to hit on a tune so simple as to be unforgettable, and yet somehow so superior that most of us could never come with anything half as good.  It was gorgeous.

Its lyrics were intimate and personal, and yet so unpretentious.  They called out, “My sweet Lord, my sweet Lord…” with a humble and heartfelt yearning, real praise and a sense of adoration.  That phrase was repeated over and over, and then the yearning expanded with a real cry, “I really want to know you! I really want to be with you!  I really want to see you!”  Not much more to it, that was the bulk of the song, repeating the simple phrases of love and longing…

The Bill Nye – Ken Ham Debate ~ My Take On Their Views About Science

February 8, 2014

I haven’t posted anything on this debate, which I heard live. I think Heavenly Raindrops summarizes my thoughts well. She believes, like I do, that God’s Word is true.

heavenlyraindrops's avatarHEAVENLY RAINDROPS

I hope that you were all able to watch the debate Tuesday night.  It was both lively and insightful.  More than anything, it confirmed what I had already heard about Bill Nye, that he is unabashedly convinced of an evolutionary origin of life.

Although I don’t share his views, I do applaud Mr. Nye’s willingness to take part.  As to the winner, I suppose it all depends.

To those of us certain that life began by our Creator, we know that Ken Ham did exceptionally well at defending that position.  Since creation was a supernatural event, it is humanly impossible for anyone to prove, but Mr. Ham made excellent points about how the fingerprints of creation are everywhere.  I get a good mental picture of Christ standing up after Mr. Ham’s presentation and applauding him.

To those siding with a Darwinian mindset, you are likely as pleased about how Mr…

I Must Refuse This Invitation

January 11, 2014

Gary Stearman recently reported on this as he lives near Oklahoma City. Like Delight, “I must refuse this invitation” to sit in Satan’s lap. Delight has put the facts and the picture together here so you can see the plans of some very evil people. I know this story isn’t over yet, but one of us will keep an eye on this story and will post updates.

AP PROVIDES ACCESS TO THIS PUBLICLY DISTRIBUTED HANDOUT PHOTO PROVIDED BY SATANIC TEMPLE FOR EDITORIAL PURPOSES ONLY.

An invitation to sit in the lap of Satan. What?

The Oklahoma State Capital is the site of religious controversy. Again.

A few years ago a large statue of the Ten Commandments was placed there, and now Satanists want a piece of the action. They raised $20.000 so far in their effort to erect a statue of Satan as Baphomet, a goat-headed figure with horns, wings and a long beard.  On either side of this Satan, there would be children sculpted looking up at him.

Wait, there is more.

The statue would have a functional aspect to it as well. Subjects would be able to sit in the lap of Satan for a time of prayer, contemplation or perhaps selling their soul to him. This sounds funny to most people, but this concept is a physical manifestation of the forces of darkness at work in our world.

There is no doubt…

Strange Fire – The African Import of Charismatic Chaos – Conrad Mbewe

October 17, 2013

I listened to this message with a group of Christian friends last night. I had never heard Pastor Mbewe’s speak before. The part that I heard left the impression that the man tells it like it is. I would like to thank Narrowing path for reblogging this from The Cripplegate blog.

From The Cripplegate blog, a transcript of Pastor Mbewe’s talk at the Strange Fire Conference…thanks Mike, what a fantastic effort!

For those who are unable to view the free live stream of the Strange Fire Conference here at Grace Community Church, I thought I would do my best to provide a written summary of the various sessions as they unfold (Session One; Session Two; Session Three). I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep this up, or if I’ll be able to other sessions (check out Tim Challie’s blog for his coverage) But I thought a little would be better than nothing. It provides us with a helpful opportunity to interact with what is actually being said at the conference. Having said that, the following was…

Compromised Preachers Take Note!

October 13, 2013

Manny has shared a story of two folks who choose to take a stand for righteousness. Decisions like this one seem to be moving closer to Americans. In fact, they are already here. May God give us the strength to act like these two wonderful Christians…

Mannyr's avatarCracked-Pot

Here is a heart warming video about two focused Christians who have done no wrong and suffered persecution for it. This is the typical in your face attack against Christians and their faith. Please note the calm and focused responses from this beautiful couple. The interviewers tried to make the husband respond to their baiting, I love the way he responds.  The beauty from within shines forth like cracked-pots, allowing Jesus to shine from within. Bless them dear Lord.

I look Up to God

Another sign of the times from Delight in Truth’s blog…

Erin Shead Assignment About God

The class assignment at Lucy Elementary in Millington, Tennessee  was to write about an idol.

Erin Shead is a 10-year-old Christian who picked God as her model and proceeded with the above project.  She wrote:

“He will always be the #1 Person I look up to”

“I look up to Him because He put me on this earth”

“I love Him, and Jesus is His earthly Son.  I also love Jesus”

Delight in Truth is very proud of this young Christian who knows correct doctrine and is not ashamed of it in a world which is unfriendly to Christians.

How unfriendly, you ask?

Her paper was rejected by the teacher. Erin was told that she is prohibited to choose God for her assignment, and to take the paper off school property.  I would not have been surprised at all if this happened in communist Romania where atheism was the law…

DAMASCUS A RUINOUS HEAP?

September 6, 2013

What about Damascus?  Right now very interesting things are happening in Syria.  You would have to be deaf not to have at least heard a bit about it.

https://chrisreimersblog.com/2012/11/28/the-future-of-damascus/

And Just yesterday:

Isaiah 17:1

King James Version (KJV)

17 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

My thoughts:

I believe this is a prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled.  It’s like the prophecies concerning the rapture.  We look for signs but we don’t know when these prophecies will come to pass.  Either could happen tonight. Either could happen in 100 years or more.  It is very possible the prophecy that Isaiah spoke of in 17:1 could happen very soon.  What will God use to destroy Damascus?  It could be an earthquake, a nuclear event, bombing from a regional war, or even a supernatural event that is without explanation.  There are many possibilities.

I continue to watch Israel because I believe that the little nation, created by a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, is God’s timepiece.

Children: Between Life and Death

When it comes to the topic of abortion, Delight feels as strongly as I do about the subject. This is only one sad reason for our concern.

Moloch With Child

As a father of three young children I shutter when I read things like this in the Bible.

“They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.”  Jer 7:31

“And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your whorings so small a matter that you slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them?”  Ez 16:20-21

“And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.”  2 Kings 17:17

So great was the idolatry of Israel that they have resorted to child sacrifices to appease Molek and other gods…

It’s Rated R For A Reason

April 2, 2013

Mrs. Acuna shares some good resources that you need to look at before you take your kids to the movies.

Sue Acuna's avatar Mrs. Acuna's Blog

Rated RLast week when we were discussing spring break plans, Amelia said she wanted to see the new Selena Gomez movie.  When I pointed out that it was rated R, she said that wasn’t a problem: “My mom will take me.”

I looked up the movie on IMDB.com and read the Parent Guide notes aloud.  After hearing several descriptions of drug use, nudity, and sexual situations, Amelia looked alarmed.  “I didn’t know all that was in there,” she said.  “I just thought the previews looked funny!”

The MPAA ratings may have their flaws, but they do serve a purpose, when parents heed them.   Had Amelia’s mom taken her to see the film without doing some checking first, it could’ve been uncomfortable and awkward for everyone.  There are several sites besides IMDB; Kids-in-Mind and Common Sense Media provide good info for parents (you can click on either name to access the…
