Review and Free: No Compromise by Charles H. Spurgeon

September 15, 2016

You may want to read Pastor Jim’s (SLIMJIM) entire review before getting this free book. If you only read the quotes at the end of the review, you will have enough food for thought.

Charles H. Spurgeon. No Compromise.  Pensacola, FL: Chapel Library, September 5th, 2014. 24 pp.

This is a sermon by Charles Spurgeon that he preached based upon Genesis 24:5-8.  Spurgeon preached this on October 7, 1888 which would have been around the infamous time of the “Downgrade controversy” in which some of the churches in the Baptist Union that Spurgeon was a part of started watering down the Gospel.  I read this book during a time that I needed to be encouraged while taking a stand on an issue that made others heated.  Knowing Spurgeon’s own battle and that he delivered this sermon during the midst of that time really ministered to me.

Scripture and the LGBT agenda by Dr James White

May 25, 2016

I saw this video on SLIMJIM’s blog called “The Domain For Truth.” You can read his blog post containing this video here.

“What was God’s purpose in Creation? It involves the goodness of human sexuality, male and female. It involves the establishment of the very first human institution by God, the family. You have Father and Mother. You have the natural outcome of that being children.” -Dr. White

3 Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?” 4 And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” (Matthew 19)

This is a very good description of the Biblical World View of human sexuality and family.

I would like to thank Dan C. of The Battle Cry who linked to SLIMJIMS blog HERE. This is how is saw this video.

I follow both blogs: The Domain For Truth and The Battle Cry.

Spring is here and the butterflies are beginning to flutter signs of creation all over the Northern Hemisphere. The Wings of the Wind and its editor had an interesting week. On the blogging front:

The reason I put up the forced Adoption story was because my new friend Eugene Thinks He is Out of Options – Starting Hunger Strike Soon

Divine Sovereignty by Steven J Lawson is another theologically correct article which can be found on Sherryn’s blog, “The Narrowing Path.” It is an easy to read article about a deep subject.

American-College-of-Pediatricians-e1459098066229American College of Pediatricians Slams Transgender Agenda in Children is an article from Dr. Chris Prunean’s Blog “Delight In Truth.” You will certainly not find this interesting article about the transgender subject anywhere in the mainstream media. “Why not?” is the question I have.

Review: Ashamed of the Gospel, by John MacArthur
I’ve been to Jim’s blog several times in the past. From this article, we appear like minded in the most important ways. I may have to try to get my hands on a copy of this now as Dan C. is reading it and, as it appears it may have some information on the “Downgrade controversy” in Spurgeon’s day of which I am not aware, I am curious.

Listen Here buttonSermon Link: The Godhead Revealed by Dr Martyn Llloyd-Jones is a wonderful sermon that I found at Sherryn’s blog. Here is a man who knew how to rightly divide the Word of God.

Steven Bennett – SECRETS and LIES – Inside Barnevernet, Norway’s CPS is an article about the sad reality of Norway’s Child Protective Services.

Smooth Sailing ~ CHRISTian poetry by deborah annOn Tranquil Seas ~ is Deborah Ann’s poem I chose to publish this week. This was a much needed drink at an oasis along my journey this week. God’s Word is, of course, my primary source of strength, but Deborah Ann’s Words are based on scripture.
This was the favorite verse of a college friend who went on to become a pastor.

On the substitute front, I was fortunate to spend 4 of my 5 days at Fountain Lake. I enjoyed it all, from 2nd grade on up. I got to go on the annual trip to Blakely Dam that the 4th graders have been taking for years. The 5th day I was a spanish teacher at Park Elementary. I welcomed the students with my limited knowledge of Spanish: “Buenos Dias.”

The joke of the week comes from Clayton:

“What do you call a speaker without speak?”

The first edition of this book was published in 1993, and the latest edition was published in 2010. Sometimes the benefit of a book that is warning the threat posed to Evangelical Christianity is best seen from the passage of time. From the perspective that “time will tell..” I think this book is a must read for those who are concern about the state of American Christianity departing from Biblical mooring. The message is not out of date, but has been proven to be more relevant today. The author John MacArthur is a preacher who has the reputation of being one who preaches the Bible faithfully. In the preface to the second edition, MacArthur has made it clear that he intended to leave the original content of the first edition intact. While much of the discussion in the book first tackled the seeker sensitive movement, the book in…
