WEEKLY WRAP-UP FOR 2016-6-4

June 5, 2016

HERE IS THE REASON THERE WAS NO WEEKLY WRAP-UP LAST WEEK.

There was a seven-day Social Media Protest with which I was involved. The protest was to be peaceful and the goal was to get information from the politicians in Norway about their thoughts on the child care system (the Barnevernet) there. Hundreds of voices worldwide joined the questioning. Most of it was done in a truthful manner. There are always going to be a few who get carried away.

The intention was to get answers for the Norwegian people. Of the political parties in Norway, the leaders of the protest choose 12. As I was only commenting on 4 or 5 of the party websites, I don’t know for sure. But it was my impression that not one political party was willing to make a statement about the Child Care System in Norway over social media. If you looked at the link above, we got one good response. It was from the Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg. After she commented, a large number of protesters went to her site to make valid complaints, ask questions, and a few went to cause trouble. The result was that the Prime Minister’s site was shut down for a bit and the entire conversation was removed.

I wish that hadn’t happened. So many people voiced valid concerns about the welfare of the children in Norway. If you would like to know my blogging friend Chris Prunean’s take on the events, click on the link above.

It was necessary to write a Letter to Ms. Solveig Horne, Norwegian Minister of Children and Equality this week as my response to the reunification of the Bodnariu family in Norway. This is a start but the story is far from over. It is a joyful event that a family will get to live together again.

Here is a story you don’t want to miss. It is sad but one you should know about. It is the truth of what is happening in many places in Europe: Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and the U.K. besides Norway.

Legal Kidnapping in Norway – American Mother Victim

Last but certainly not least is Dan’s Other Men’s Brains. It’s an interesting short article about the treatment of scripture.

I wish you all a blessed week in the Lord.

Other Men’s Brains

June 4, 2016

Here is some great advise for all of us to remember. If you are not following Dan’s instructions, which only mirror God’s Word, you should read this. He includes a quote from my favorite preacher of all time. Go C.H.S.!!! CR

Dan C.'s avatarThe Battle Cry

“And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. – 2 Peter 1:19-20 (Emphasis mine)

The above passages can refer to the words of the Prophet of God not being of his own invention, or that the interpretation of Scripture is not just a matter of one’s own imaginings. These words are also not saying individuals aren’t to read and study the Bible for themselves but instead rely on an special ‘Church’ body to tell them what it means. We are all exhorted to ‘study to show ourselves approved’ (2 Tim 2:15)

I clearly remember a time when we frequently attended small group Bible studies…

Letter to Ms. Solveig Horne, Norwegian Minister of Children and Equality

June 3, 2016

This letter was posted to Ms. Solveig Horne’s Facebook page today:

Ms. Solveig Horne,

I have seen your photo on several websites and blogs. I must be honest. Several months ago, I hadn’t ever seen or heard of you. Now, when I see your face, I think of little children. I think of children who are taken from their parents for the most minor of reasons. I think of Norway’s Barnevernet.

I don’t have to tell you that most of the world disagrees with the policies of the BV. You already know that. You also are aware of the news that the Bodnariu’s will be returned to their family if you do not appeal the decision. I know you already know what you will do. You will probably not appeal and allow the embarrassment of the situation to subside. If you appeal you know the world will be angry.

I, for one, will not go away no matter which decision you make about how the CPS will now treat the Bodnariu family. Will there be an apology sent for keeping children from their parents for months? You have been hoping the masses will go away. You wish them to go nicely back to their homes and have no more demonstrations in the streets.

I will tell you this.

There will be another demonstration in my town. I know because I will organize it. All of the signs we have except one we can reuse because they had the BV name on them and not the Bodnariu name as someone had foresight. My goal will be to have more people at the next protest in my town than we had in April. I hope to have better media coverage. I will have more time to plan it than I did the previous one. I will pick a date for this protest in the next few months.

“Why am I going to do this?” some may ask. My response will be: “The Bodnariu family was one of thousands and we must not forget those thousands who have been treated just like the Bodnarius. One family has been freed but a system that denies human rights and due process to families continues to operate as if nothing has happened. I cannot be silent.”

This will be my true reply, Ms. Horne. I hope someday that your policies will be changed and that people in Norway can go back to a life where they don’t always have to be concerned about a principal, a neighbor, a teacher, a pastor, a “friend,” or anyone making a statement about a family that starts a process where the children are never able to spend any time with their parents without the intruding eyes and presence of the Barnevernet until they are 18.

WEEKLY WRAP-UP FOR 2016-5-21

May 22, 2016

Spring is here and the butterflies are beginning to flutter signs of creation all over the Northern Hemisphere. The Wings of the Wind and its editor had an interesting week. On the blogging front:

Forced Adoption in the U.K. included this video:

The reason I put up the forced Adoption story was because my friend Eugene Lukjanenko sent a message to this blog about getting out of prison.

https://chrisreimersblog.com/2018/04/05/eugene-lukjanenko-is-out-of-prison-sends-message-to-wings-of-the-wind-readers/

The video below details that sad story of how Eugene’s son was taken from him:

INDIA PROTESTS NORWAY’S CPS includes the following video by Dr. John Dayal:

American College of Pediatricians Slams Transgender Agenda in Children is an article from Dr. Chris Prunean’s Blog “Delight In Truth.” You will certainly not find this interesting article about the transgender subject anywhere in the mainstream media. “Why not?” is the question I have.

Here is the latest statement I could find from the American College of Pediatricians.

Review: Ashamed of the Gospel, by John MacArthur
I’ve been to Jim’s blog several times in the past. From this article, we appear like minded in the most important ways. I may have to try to get my hands on a copy of this now as Dan C. is reading it and, as it appears it may have some information on the “Downgrade controversy” in Spurgeon’s day of which I am not aware, I am curious.

Sermon Link: The Godhead Revealed by Dr Martyn Llloyd-Jones is a wonderful sermon that I found at Sherryn’s blog. Here is a man who knew how to rightly divide the Word of God.

Gospel Herald – Norway’s Seizure of Five Children due to Parents’ ‘Bible-Based Parenting Style’ Questioned by Over 100 Lawyers and Politicians Worldwide is only part of the story of the wonderful Christian family pictured above.

New DNA Study Confirms Noah is an interesting article by Brian Thomas, M.S. of the Institute for Creation Research.

Steven Bennett – SECRETS and LIES – Inside Barnevernet, Norway’s CPS is an article about the sad reality of Norway’s Child Protective Services.

On Tranquil Seas ~ is Deborah Ann’s poem I chose to publish this week. This was a much needed drink at an oasis along my journey this week. God’s Word is, of course, my primary source of strength, but Deborah Ann’s Words are based on scripture.
This was the favorite verse of a college friend who went on to become a pastor.

On the substitute front, I was fortunate to spend 4 of my 5 days at Fountain Lake. I enjoyed it all, from 2nd grade on up. I got to go on the annual trip to Blakely Dam that the 4th graders have been taking for years. The 5th day I was a spanish teacher at Park Elementary. I welcomed the students with my limited knowledge of Spanish: “Buenos Dias.”

The joke of the week comes from Clayton:

“What do you call a speaker without speak?”

“er”

May the God, our Creator and the Creator of Heaven and Earth, bless your week.

INDIA PROTESTS NORWAY’S CPS

May 16, 2016

Continuing westward in an effort to cover all protests from April 16, it must be mentioned that India was represented. A small group of protesters met in Kadapa, India. Whereas New Delhi is in the Northern part of India, Kadapa lies over 1,000 miles to the south. How the people there heard of this issue is beyond me, but they came out to protest.

Dr John Dayal – Secretary-General All India Christian Council, gave this address from New Delhi.

This is one issue where Protestants, Catholics, other religions, and atheists agree. It is a unique issue.

WEEKLY WRAP UP FOR 2016-5-14

May 14, 2016

This was an interesting week on the computer in many ways. On the blogging front, lots of interesting material became available this week.

As most of us think our Mom’s are “The Best Mom in the World,” Mother’s Day began with this post. It is one of two pieces I wrote this week.

The Universe Has Been Carefully Dialed to an Astonishingly Precise Value is one of two posts taken from Sherryn’s outstanding discernment blog called: The Narrowing Path.

Melbourne completes coverage of Australian Demonstrations does just that. We head off to another continent next week.

NO DUE PROCESS IN AMERICA? discusses a time in America where some Americans had just that. It was my second shot at writing this week.

Home School Legal Defense Association Publicizes the Bodnariu Case was found at Valeria’s blog this week. The HSLDA, an American organization, put together the best short documentary about the Bodnariu family that I’ve seen.

4 Empty Beds in Norway: 4 of Thousands is a repeat of the HSLDA video because I like it so much.

Bono Meets Eugene Peterson is an well-researched Herescope article on the two giants. Peterson thinks it is OK to add to God’s Word.

Lead me Lord by Gospel Trumpet Singers is a prayer in the form of a beautiful song.

My Friend Ken and CPS Recorded/Vibeke Speaks is an actual recording of Ken Olsen and the mother of his child, Vibeke Morrissey, and their encounter with a CPS worker.

Can a man change a man—short answer-NO, only Jesus can change a man. is another educational word study by Manny Rodriquez, my blogging buddy.

NORWAY…A COUNTRY WHERE EVEN ART IS UPSIDE DOWN!!! is a verbal work of art about a hanging work of art. Ken Olsen is very creative.

Russian Officials Speculate That a Nuclear War Could Leave Romania a “Smoking Ruins” comments on Putin’s Push because of a weak American Foreign Policy.

Why do we want to look like the world? is a question all Christians should ask themselves. Dan C. writes on the subject.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION is a timely piece about revisionism. Thank you for posting this, Manny. We all need to read all of it.

The Dangerously Influential Gospel of Tim Keller is important information in this era of wolves among the flock. Sherryn has posted information about a false teacher that many know of. Interestingly, Keller wrote the forward to the recent biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

This Light of Mine ~ is a Christian poem by Deborah Ann Belka. No week would be complete without reading something from Deborah Ann.

Some good times were had with the kids this week. Got to help the Special Ed kids at Fountain Lake on Field Day. We got wet, we jumped in the bounce houses, we enjoyed the sunshine.

I took care of this week’s best joke of the day.

So…What do you call a friendly school?

“Hi, school!”

I wish you all a blessed week,

Chris Reimers

Why do we want to look like the world?

May 14, 2016

If we look just like the world, something is drastically wrong. Thanks for the reminder, Dan.

Dan C.'s avatarThe Battle Cry

The answer is really simple. We want to ‘attract’ people to Jesus, which is a concept found nowhere in scripture. In fact God wants his sona and daughters to be different from the world, not like the world. Yet pastors come out on platforms and stages where there is no pulpit, wearing their faded jeans, rumpled shirts hanging out of their trousers, only to preach stories about themselves (narcigesis) with a few scripture passages thrown in (soundbites for Jesus?), most likely taken out of context to ‘prove’ the heresy of the day, and itching ears lap it up because postmodern Christianity is all about our temporal happiness not God’s glory.

“The idea that you are going to win people tomthe Christian faith by showing them that after all you are remarkably like them is theologically and psychologically a profound blunder.” – Lloyd-Jones, Preaching and Preachers, 140

Home School Legal Defense Association Publicizes the Bodnariu Case

May 11, 2016

Valeria’s blog is mostly in Romanian and is mostly about the Bodnariu case. It is an excellent blog where I found this information that I didn’t know of. Oops, this came from Delights blog. Everyone who comes here by now should know of his blog. It appears that America is getting informed! BTW…Here is a link to Valeria’s blog: https://dumezeueincontrol.wordpress.com/ Her recent pictures are wonderful!

Delight in Truth's avatarDelight in Truth

The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is an advocacy group representing 84,000 families in the US, and they did what few have done to help the Bodnariu family.

The HSLDA went to Norway at the time of the April 16th, 2016 protest to see for themselves the international drama that has painted Norway in the worst possible light. They interviewed Marius and Ruth, Ruth’s sister, and a number of other supporters at the protest in Stryn. The HSDLA is also calling for supporters to contact the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, DC to express their outrage over the confiscation of the Bodnariu children.

While most of us offered support for the Bodnariu family from far away, the HSLDA went to the tiny town in Norway where the Bodnarius live to document for the rest of us that they are a great family and they are not alone in this difficult time.

“The Best Mom in the World”

May 8, 2016

“My Mom is the best Mom in the world.” I used to think that everyone thought that. It turns out that I was wrong. In fact, I’ve come to realize that some kids like going to school to get away from Mom or Dad.

In the boy’s bathroom, washing my hands, I heard “Hi, Mr. Reimers” behind me. It was a student that I would see later in the afternoon. As it was Friday, I commented, “You probably can’t wait for the weekend, huh?” “Right,” he said. Another student walked in and I continued my conversation. “Did you know that some students would rather be at school than at home?” He looked at me with that “Are you kidding?” look. The student who had just walked in said, “Yeah, just like ________________.”

My understanding of family life didn’t change on Friday, but I think a student learned that he was fortunate.

I know I was fortunate.

Former Christian Talk Show Host, Ingrid Schlueter had an interesting article on her blog the other day. The goal of her blog was to thank her mother for all she has done. Very noticeable to me was a historic family picture at the head of the post with young Ingrid with her Mom and family visiting Mt. Rushmore. I couldn’t help but make a comment on her blog. It went something like this except I’ve added and edited a few things:

“Guess what, Ingrid? When I was a kid, our family piled into a camper once a year for a few weeks during summer vacation and would travel mostly to see relatives. One year, we met some relatives near this same location (Mt. Rushmore) and had a wonderful time. If it weren’t for my Mom and my Aunt, the trips we took back then would have been disastrous. Our lives would have been completely different.

During Easter breaks, that’s what school’s Spring breaks were called back then, my Mom invited any interested child to our house to hear the Easter story. There was a craft after the story and snacks. The main craft was gluing rocks together with an empty cross glued onto the rocks. Raising six kids, my Mom didn’t have craft money so she used what was available (rocks and Popsicle sticks). I still have a picture, somewhere, of one of those “Bible schools” mostly done on our front lawn. There were probably 50 kids there. I never did hear anyone criticize my Mom for this. There may have been some ‘Bible thumper’ remarks but I never heard them.

Years after those Easter Bible studies, a young man fell off of a school mound while throwing a pitch in a baseball game and was pronounced dead of heart failure. He had a major heart problem that had never been detected.

The phone in the kitchen rang. It was the parents of the boy who died. They wanted to meet with my Mom. They were not church goers as far as I know and the only thing that seemed to give them any peace was the little Bible that the boy still had from one of those Easter break events at my house. My Mom gladly met with the couple. I have no idea what was discussed, but I know my Mom and I know she was used of God in that instance.

There are so many fond memories about Mom that a book could be written.

I remember the time one of the neighborhood kids got a ‘jaw-breaker’ stuck in his throat. He did this between his house and my house. He ran to my house. His face bright red, my Mom and Dad turned him upside down and hammered his back (this was long before we all knew about Heimlich) until the obstacle fell out, probably saving the young boy’s life. It was just another day in the neighborhood.

My Mom was a church choir director for over 50 years. She sang at multiple funerals and performed many solos in church. She directed many cantatas. The last several years the cantatas she directed ended in sickness and voicelessness. She still has a beautiful singing voice even though she struggles with pain as many in their eighties do. I am fortunate to live close enough to her that my sister and I can check on her regularly. She is still a servant of the Most High.

We are blessed to have Moms like ours, Ingrid. This post has inspired me to put these words on my blog later today.”

Thank you.

If you wish to see a picture of my Mom all you have to do is look at the top of my Facebook page. I don’t publish many pictures of family but I love this picture of my Mom and Son swimming in a lake one summer day in Arkansas.

I hope you think your Mom is the best Mom in the world. Even if you don’t, will you give her a hug today and say, “Thank you?” Moms like that.
