The Humanitarian Theory of Punishment by C.S. Lewis Doodle
June 2, 2016There was one of those moments the other day. You know…one of those moments when you see something that you consider so brilliant that you know that you will have to see it again and again. This is the way we should feel about our Bibles. It is God’s Word after all.
However, every once in a while God becomes evident through a man or woman. Someone has so much talent, even if it is for a brief moment, that one has to look at the talent in awe. I’m sure you have all had this experience based on your interests. I’m sure you have all had this experience of yourself. You do something and you can’t believe you did it. Maybe you have never had this experience. It doesn’t make you a less talented person only perhaps very humble.
I had an experience like this when I first read a sermon by Charles Spurgeon. Where does man get such ability to work words together and give you a picture of heaven? This is not the sterile heaven portrayed in so much of our media.
I first saw this effort by C.S. Lewis after someone posted it to Face Book. It looked interesting. By the end of the 19 or so minutes it had happened. It was one of those times. It was brilliant. I didn’t get the name of the man who posted this work of art and probably should have.
Most visual persons would be even more impressed because of the artwork done with Mr. Lewis’s thoughts. The drawings capture the ideas that Mr. Lewis is stating very nicely.
Ever heard of a discernment site? That is a website designed to help people discern the truth from lies. The Narrowing Path by Sherryn, located in my blogroll is an example of an excellent Christian discernment site. Always the curious one, I was reading what one of these discernment sites said about C.S. Lewis. It gave a couple of his quotes and called him a “heretic.” I did some checking and it seems that Lewis did hold some questionable views, but was he a heretic?
How could a heretic write a book like “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe?” I have read “The Screwtape Letters” by Mr. Lewis. It didn’t take long to see that this discernment site may have been a bit off. I suppose it is a study for another time and if I don’t get to it, I guess God will make the determination in the end.
Until that time, I will enjoy the C.S. Lewis doodles.

This is a very good description of the Biblical World View of human sexuality and family.

This was the favorite verse of a college friend who went on to become a pastor.
On the substitute front, I was fortunate to spend 4 of my 5 days at Fountain Lake. I enjoyed it all, from 2nd grade on up. I got to go on the annual trip to Blakely Dam that the 4th graders have been taking for years. The 5th day I was a spanish teacher at Park Elementary. I welcomed the students with my limited knowledge of Spanish: “Buenos Dias.”

New DNA Study Confirms Noah

Evolutionary teachings hold that all mankind arose from a population of ape-like ancestors from which chimpanzees also evolved. But Genesis, the rest of the Bible, and Jesus teach that all mankind arose from Noah’s three sons and their wives. A new analysis of human mitochondrial DNA exposes two new evidences that validate the biblical beginnings of mankind.
Mitochondrial DNA comes from mothers. Mother egg cells transmit their mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) into the cellular mitochondria of every child born. This unique annex of DNA contains 16,569 bases—either adenine, guanine, cytosine, or thymine (A, G, C, T)—that encode vital cellular information, like an instruction manual.
Scientists have been comparing the genetic differences between every major people group around the globe. How did those differences arise?

WEEKLY WRAP UP FOR 2016-5-14

Some good times were had with the kids this week. Got to help the Special Ed kids at Fountain Lake on Field Day. We got wet, we jumped in the bounce houses, we enjoyed the sunshine.

Amber-Encased Lizards Showcase Recent Creation

What did lizards look like when they crawled around dinosaur feet? Newly described lizards encased in Burmese ambers clearly show the answer.
Publishing online in Science Advances, a team of zoologists recognized familiar lizard forms in a dozen amber-encased specimens.1 A few preserve almost whole lizard bodies, most merely contain body parts, but they all confirm biblical creation in several different ways.
Amber forms when resins—not sap—flow from damaged trees. The resin hardens within hours, like scabs, to help heal the tree’s wounds. The resins sometimes flow fast enough to occasionally entomb little creatures, and harden fast enough to preserve them before they’re eaten or have time to rot.
Secular scientists assigned an age of 99 million years to these Burmese amber deposits. But the encased organisms show no evidence for evolution between creature kinds. Instead, the dozen lizards fall neatly into five modern lizard categories. For example, the researchers found life-like modern geckos and even identified a tiny chameleon fossil.

It seems to me that there is a good amount of evidence that the Biblical view of Creation is logically correct. I believe the Bible account is the correct account.

A Computer Simulated Reality?
October 20, 2016It has been a long time since I have posted anything by Gary Stearman. I have always found him to be intellectually minded and I thought this short video was interesting. His shows are always interesting even if I find the conclusions of some of his guests questionable. Whether you agree with Gary or not, he brings up the always interesting question: “How did I get here?” It is a question that science continues to grapple with.
